Get one of those receiver hitch bed extenders at Harbor Frieght and extend your shortbed a few feet. Couple that with swft's suggested chock and you wont have any problems.

I have GMC Sonoma Crewcab S15. Bed is 54". I transport all kinds with no problem. Just leave the tailgate down. Fits straight in - ZX12, Harley, RC51, etc... No problemo. Simplest way to keep them tight and straight is a "Canyon Dancer". It keeps equal pressure on the handlebars so the wheel can't twist.

Hmmmm call me crazy but up here we don't parade our bike around in the back of trucks.....we ride them untill it snows out. Trucks are meant for wood not bikes.

Buddy of mine told me about this place. It's right up the road in Dothan, AL., like 18 miles away.
Hummmm, wonder if I could get my bud to swing by and work a Bikeland.org special deal? Maybe it'll wait till I return.
Then again, maybe I'd be better off just spending the same money on front and rear stands. So many questions, 4 months to think about it all,

K - I stopped using canyon dancers, had too many times where it screwed up the grips. Soft ties and a sport chock are my preferred method these days.

I believe my S15 probably has one of the shortest beds at 54". Leave the tailgate down, and as noted above, I've fit every bike I needed so far.
And Turbo - Yes, that's the ticket. Thought I had the patent on that secret...
