Lowering 10R? Im a little short :)

Hi,

Well, I was able to get to a semi local dealer today to sit on a 10R. I must say I am in love! It has a lighter feel to it than my 2000 6R & feels easy to flick while standing still

Anyway, while the weight is exactly the same dry, I am finding that the height is a little bit taller.

Aside from passing on the bike, what should I do? I assume I can pull some foam out of the seat but as it stands now:

1. I can either flatfoot one side
2. I can get both tippy toes down at the same time.

I would like to get at least the balls of my feet down at the same time, that would make me feel a bit more comfotable.

I have no concerns for when the bike is moving, just when I am stopping & the pavement isnt an even level (parking sideways in a parking lot that is slanted for example).

I am close, but I dont want to start dropping a 11k bike. That would really ruin my day.

Any suggestions on what I can do that wont change the geometry of the bike? I am very close to where I want to be, if I could have an inch I would be thrilled, but a half inch would work as well.

I would guess over time the rear shock will have a bit more sag to it.

Thanks,
Rich

Rich.....how much do you weigh?

Just remember...dependant on your weight....you could soften up the rear shock spring, creating a little more sag in the rear.
If your not too heavy, doing this would not upset the balance of the bike too much.

My toes can touch when I sit on my 12, and that's it. I would give anything to have the balls of my feet touch the ground. I sat on the Honda RR and I could touch the ground with ease.

Anyways, about lowering, throw some dog bones (lowering links) on the rear and bring the bike level by dropping the front forks. Dont know how much you can drop it safely, but just make sure whatever you drop in the rear equals the same drop in the front.

After that, you might have to get an adjustable kickstand to be able to park the bike without having it tip over on the original kickstand.

Hope that helps.

Extremelean - I weigh 155. I am not keen at all on the idea of actually lowering the bike but I do want to make sure I dont dump the bike while stopping. That would really piss me off

Beanbaxter - I was thinking about the dogbones but I think I will leave the bike as Kawasaki designed it.

I did find these shoes though:

I might go that route since they are better foot protection than what I currently have (sneakers, yah i know thats bad)
