Well, enough said, looks really good to me. I'm definitely getting the Ak, when I ever get my bike that is, with the PCIII.

Dropping it would give me less MPH but more needed low end grunt! Need to be able to wheelie easier. Besides who needs to go 105 MPH in 1st gear anyhow? Probably 1 tooth would be all she'll allow!

No, I was thinkin it would be a cheap deal to install a countershaft sprocket 1 tooth smaller (off the tranny shaft) rather than increasing the sproket on the rear wheel as then we could keep the same chain and we would save a few $?
Unless the laws of physics changed on me. lol

It's odd that if you go to their site there is no mention yet of an exhaust for the 10r

The 'trickest' pipe I've ever bought was a Ti-Force. It was in incredible work of art. The welds were unbelievable. However, the Akro pipe has the rep, and the quality is top notch!

Ya but they are telling me that I will pay $2000.00 for what I want?!?! Oh well who cares? It saves 12 pounds and gives 11.2 HP in return!! Cool!

actually it gives 7hp max according to their chart. It says the stock zx10r puts out 158hp at the rear wheel and max hp with the pipe is 165hp.

It could be just the photo but it sure looks like that mid pipe is getting pretty large by the time it gets to the muffler. I wonder if a slip on would mimic that feature.
Mr. KB. I am getting the impression that pipes are getting larger in diameter. Is that the latest trend. I got to see E'Boz 999R Ducati and the exhaust was HUGH. It looked like the pipes from the port to the muffler were at least 2 1/2'. I realize that it is a twin with 500cc feeding each pipe, but what is the scoop?

WOuld make sense that the pipes are getting larger. They're making more horsepower, which is contingent on moving air in and out of the motor. Just my opinion...

Yeah, swft, I found it the other day.
It looks from the chart like the exhaust valve mondo helps on the street, and if one remapped to fill in the EPA 'hole' at 3750, then the stock exhaust would make much more sense (and torque) on the street. It doesn't matter for hard-core racing, but if you're planning on street at all...

Depends on the motor. For example, the pipes on the works Hondas actually got smaller. The S-Bend is tiny in diameter and the headpipes are very short.
Looking at the Akro, it appears the S-bend is tapered, similar to a megaphone type effect. We are all looking at "tapered" headers and S-bends more and more (again). Tapered and/or stepped headers have been around forever. We did tapered S-bends commonly on race bikes in the early 80's. And continue today. But they were not very common on street bikes. Now that streetbikes are so close (and actually better) than race bikes were just a few years ago, we're looking to put that technology back into "production pipes".
We're doing some testing on pure megaphones on the 600FX bike. Similar to what they've found works on the Moto GP bike. They definetly make more power, we just have to try and balance it out by attaching a "reasonable" sounding muffler that does not affect the power gained with a megaphone section.... Not an easy task.
Actually, we just finished a run a few minutes ago on an open megaphone. When it hit the rev limiter at 16100 rpm, I thought the windows were going to blow out! The sound meter was pegged outside the dyno room at 125 dbA. Christ, I'm glad that I did not want to have any more kids.....
