Thanks for all the helpful info. I'll let you know how it goes...

Megabyte,
the 4 gage cable comes in whatever length you need, prolly a 3-4' or less but better to get enough for fukups. Cut it into indiv cable lengths. The cable ends have to be crimped on, and its a special crimper. Getting cable ends to fit onto the block near the starter relay takes a bit of jiggery-pokery but its easily doable.

you can easily change out the starter cable without pulling the starter

1 more ?

Is it possible to replace all the cables from the right side of the bike, or is it necessary to remove the left fairing, and the water bottle in order to disconnect the starter cable ?

YTX20-BS Battery

Installed the bigger and heavier 270 CCA YTX20-BS battery Saturday. Yes, it was a tight fit, and the battery tray does need to be modified. I still need to work on the tray mounting bracket. I had everything bent and drilled & fitted, but couldn't make the holes line up when I put it all back together. It was 3 AM, so I was getting tired. Any ideas ? BTW, bike starts like a champ, so far....

Megabyte, If you can't get it to work, email me at jim@saltflats.com and I will see what I can do to help you. I have my battery out right now so I can look at my tray and maybe see what you need to do to make it right. JimO

Wow, thanks for all the great pics Jim. Someone should document this procedure; it's a great mod. I am impressed with how much more powerful the 270 cca (35% more cca) battery is. It really spins the motor. This appears to be a great mod for the strokers

How about posting the pics so that those of us who need a new battery can make an informed decision?

At Pacific Power Batteries in Everett, WA. $55.00. I added the fluid and slow charged it for 10 hours.

Yes, I modified the tray per Jim's instructions; it really wasn't that hard. Getting the battery back in the frame does require some special angleing techniques, and patience, but it does go in!

Cool, I'm hoping I won't have these problems. But I need to know just in case I do.
