ECTA 2002 Schedule (Maxton) GROUP MEETING?

E.C.T.A Racing Dates 2002

March 23 - 24
April 27 - 28
May 25 - 26
June 29 - 30
September 28 - 29
October 26 -27

I am planning to be at all the events, but I would like to schedule a "group meet" for all the ZX12 owners here. If you can make a specific date let's do it!

I know HarryZX12 was planning on going next year. He dropped by the October '01 event and said "Hi" but he didn't have his bike with him.

Anyone else interested in top speed runs?

Bergie,
count me in for an event but not running the series. Houston is a bit far. I would prob like the March or April date, sooner the better.

I'll be there

Gonna go for the motorless bike class record! I'll have my bike going and my dampner on by then even if I have to buy a complete motor.

Good point Harry -> make sure you guys have dampeners installed or you won't pass tech. Also safety wire everything including the front axle. Let me know if you have any other questions I will try to answer them.

safety wired

The caliper mounting bolts front and rear, the oil filter, oil drain plug, oil fill plug, and front and rear axles. I will snap some pics of my setup and post as an example. The most difficult piece to do it the front axle; a drill press helps but it can be done with a punch and hand drill as well. The oil filter you simply need a hoseclamp and safety wire that to keep it secure.

Also note that a steering dampener is required. They don't make exceptions either; I saw a guy get turned around who drove 10 hours down from New York without a damper, so make sure you have one.

They also check for steering travel limit, tires, brakes, etc. Make sure your bike is in good condition and you won't have any problems.

Thanks for the tips. I'm going to put in for some vacation time on a couple of those dates. Wife said, "go for it"!

Safety Wire Pics

If those picture links dont work try going HERE.

I couldn't snap pics of the oil filter or drain plug because the fairings are still on the bike, but you get the idea. Hope that helps.

I picked up a set of safety wire pliers at the local cycle shop; any shop geared torwards road racing will have them because you must safety wire everything to go out on the track. They were about $20.
