A special thank you to psycho1122 and Mark at North valley honda!!
I use to live in az back in 99-01 then I had a busa with mods making 185 hp. After several mishaps I got fed up with the bike. My wifes 2000 zx12 continued to perform flawlessly and my busa continued with its plethoras of woahs.(fuel system cam chain screen etc)
Fast forward to 02, I trade in the bus and get a candy thunder blue 12. At first im having busa withdrawls bigtime. Where's the torque? My bike feels slow compared to old one. Well because it stock. My busa use to do this and that better etc. I decided I was going to make my zx12 better in everyway possible over the bus.
I found a guy in albuquereque who's a competant mechanic. I had the motor shipped to NJ, to CARPENTERS!! I bought his claimed 203 hp package. (Just go to his website for more info)I was impressed by the customer service and got my bike parts back pretty fast. My mechanic put the engine back in fired it up. After the initial break in i'd finally get see this motor kick out 200hp?
stock 153 hp
step/mapped/ign/ 169 hp
1290 package with the kitchen sink thrown in? 191 max one time and the average hp being 186 hp. My mechanic owns a dynojet 168 and has a/f sniffer etc. I was alittle disappointed to say the least. He used the custom map carpenter gave him and after fiddling with it 186 hp. I knew his dyno was prone to be stingy because numerous other motorcyles stock and modded didn't even make the close to the claims of the manufacturers.Several times through out the year i had my bike dynoed and tuned for high temperature of the summer.
I use to know psycho1122 when i lived in az. I saw under his profile he has a 1270 kit and some nos. His bike kicks azz and makes 202 hp.

I know Shawn is very anal-itcal and does his research before going out on limb. I saw the threads that claimed the mjp dyno is better. I read the responses of many of you who chimed in. I too was very sceptical. I felt i already had the best tuning i could get out of my bike. Maybe another 3-4 hp could be found. Since I was already going to be in phoenix why not bring my bike down for sh-ts and giggles.
Psycho is a great guy, he arranged for the dyno sessions and played chaperone for us all weekend. While i was in phoenix psycho's friend FRENCH did some throttle body syncroing. They were way out of sync. The bike immediately had better low end throttle response hmm!! Things could be looking up!
Saturday morning and during the baseline run of 189, Mark told me my bike was to lean about 13.6-14.0 accross the board. The bike would back fire on deceleration. After tuning my bike went from 189 to 202.5!!! (same as psycho's bike.) The bike no longer backed fired and the transions were as smooth, near as stock! a'f ratio was now 12.5 to 12.8 range.
WOW!!! is all i could say. The bike picked up 13 hp and 6ft lb of torque to boot. On the road this bike pulled hard and because i did some overlaying of the 2 maps for comparison. It was immediately obvious the torque gained as early as 3k rpms. At 3k there was 8.5 increase of torque, 3500 11 ft's more. The rest of the map showed an increase everywhere with minimum 3 ft lb or more accross the board. I returned to new mexico here in the land of the slow. Before i left for phoenix i'd did some 6th gear pulls with my friend. He owns a zx12 also. Is bike is geared a little steeper than mine. We did numerous pulls back and forth to elimiate the how throttled first. Everytime my friends 12 would pull by at least 3- 3 1/2 bikes. When I got home i immmediately wanted to see if it made a difference. We did the rollons again and it initially a tie then my bike would pull on his!! Amazing a real world application. The bike still runs great at altitude no backfiring surging etc.
I hope some of you guys and gals look this thread over good, if anything at least give the mjp dyno a try! I know you'll be pleasently surprised!!
Too Psycho and Mark, thank you!!!!!!!!!

Oops to the nos part psycho! I have considered nos but the bike is awesome without it, for the moment. I see people are still having a hard time believing your bike makes 202.5 hp. Your bikes put together right. I had to spend alot more with the carpenter 1290 but I got what Bob promised! It was well worth the money and so was the trip, your advise, and the friendship!!
I was reading over on the zx12 forum were you state the bike made 173 hp stock. What probably miss informed them was the motor was 100% stock and had a few bolt ons to make that hp. (exhaust etc.)
