extention+shinko how much improvement?

Hello, how many inchs should I add 3,4,5,6,7? What tire pressure should I start out with? What kind of et reduction can I expect?
BestEt: 9.95@145.6 mph (average 10.3's 141-142and low 1.7-1.75 6.85-6.90 1/8 range)
1.64 60ft
6.58 in the 1/8
rider weight 230 lb's
16-44 gearing going thru traps in 4th about 9800 rpm's
dropped 3/4 inch front with strap.
dogbones at second setting.
rear shock untouched -as came from the factory
dunlop d208
air pressure 50lb in front, 35 rear
*The track was fairly sticky could get off the line ok but the tire was breaking loose toward the top of first gear and into 2nd when shifting. I stay on the throttle all the way between shifts.(footshifting) It also seems I have to shift around 10.5 because if i shift any higher it bounces off rev limiter. (maybe a airshifter?)
Please feel free to critique and thanks in advance!!!

I think you just need practice. I foot shift at 12K rpm indicated without bouncing off the limiter.

Stock length, stock tire....went 6.4 @ 116-117 (1.71 60'). Added 3.5 inchs, 17/48 gearing...1.57 60', shinko.....6.1@118.5, in hotter weather. Hope this helps!

SantaFe, I think your tire is spinning at the top of 1st and at the gear change because of your Rear Shock settings.

My 207 Dunlop would never give me problems between 32psi and 36psi so more than likely your 208, at your weight, is not the problem.

There may also be something going on at mid-track such as a bump, a dip, etc that is unsettling the suspension. Even so, a shock adjustment should be on your "to do" list.

Certainly, you need to set it to be SOFT on COMPRESSION. Softer than your current setting anyway. I make mine FULL SOFT, and it works for me.

Now, for REBOUND.......weight can come into play and I'm only 'a buck fifty' or so suited up. I set my REBOUND to be FULL SOFT as well.

"Rebound" is how much effort the shock is going to be pushing up on your ass after the shock has compressed. You don't want it coming up too fast as that will unsettle the tire and you will lose traction.

I'd say to "try it" at full soft rebound, and if you don't like it, back it towards the HARD setting just a couple of clicks.

Ditto for compression. Go full soft, if you don't like it, just click it towards hard a couple of clicks and then try it again.

I take my Dunlop to 9.4x on a stock arm fairly frequently with no traction problems so don't count yours as bad just yet.

If you are going with an extended arm though, by all means get the Schinko. I have one on a spare rim and it's a darn good tire. They run more air pressure than an M/T MCR2 tire. I run 25psi in mine.

PS. Are you using the clutch lever to shift? You should probably try just backing off the throttle and shifting, then get back in the gas. Use no clutch at all. If you aren't doing that, you should start.

I've been hearing about lots of folks using the Pirelli tire(super corsa?) with excellent results at the strip.

Length of arm. Hmm. I'd go six if you're hunting for ets. Traction is much harder to come by the longer you make the bike though. It doesn't sound like your tracks traction is all that great is your tire is breaking loose now. I'd gear a tad lower so you're crossing closer to the red line but I'd still keep it a 4 speed. IMO, the taller gear will let you get wide open sooner and should make you more consistent. Only drawback is more clutch wear with tall gearing.

Ditto BA's advice on the shifting. If that doesn't work, get an airshifter. While you've got your swingarm off, have it made into an airtank to keep your trunk cleaner. Might as well go ahead and get a NOS bottle holder put on the swingarm as well. Sounds like your hooked. LOL

Thanks for the replys!! I'm definately going to try playing with the rear shock. I'll also try 25 psi in my shinko. I've tried that preload the footshifter and let off the gas slightly technique to no avail. Any suggestions on a airshifter. What about et reduction with it? I'm shooting to average high 9's at mile high!!

air shifter or extended arm either one should get you into the 9's.
With both you will probably run 9's every pass unless something goes wrong. (like spin, miss a gear)

If your at mile high elevation . . .
Try some good oxyginated fuels,
VP racing fuel has CMP & 76 has some...

Or like 02zx12rbob said, "40 shot, works great for me."
That should get you nine seconds, unless you can't ride or are on TFA...
Then just do like wannabe & I, put a bar & a slick on for nine second passes.
Even then, it's not easy to go that quick at the higher elevations...
