LOOKING FOR A FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR AN 03 ZX12R NINJA, ANY SUGGESTIONIS?????

I have a 03 ZX12R Ninja. I still have the stock exhaust on it. I do more street riding than time at the track. I want to get a full system; do you all have any suggestions? If, so what kind of gains would I get?

The Step Hindle is a great pipe with around 12 HP gains.

Try this before you spend a grip of money...

http://www.zx1112.bigbikeworld.com/forum/topic.asp?id=5104

Rather than Spend the big bucks on a pipe...

I put a tune-up on the stock ZX12 Titanium unit.

2 small allen bolts hold the muffler cover...

Then 4 nuts hold the muffler to the header, 1 nut holds the muffler to the rear foot peg.

With the muffler off you'll see the converter, drill it out with a holesaw then a sawzall.

(2 1/2" holesaw & cut with sawzall avoiding the seem.)

With that part out I started the bike, (very loud)I also made a pass on it to blow it out.

If you look in the muffler you'll see that it has a lot of little holes in the inlet, & 2 small holes going to the outlet.(sewing machine sound, with little air flow.)

I drilled every other hole & some straight through the center plate inside the muffler, and a few more at the top from the inlet side.(with a foot long 3/8" drill bit.)

After cleaning out the shavings I remounted the muffler, not loud at all, no more sewing machine sound & it flows loads of air volume.

It still looks stock on the outside, but if you look into the outlet you will see a few more holes that will push more volume to the outlet, & yes the bike does perform better !

I took it to a track that I could only get 180 to 185 mph before I had to shut down, with the muffler off I went 190 to the same shut off spot & really had to put on the binders, with the muffler mods done I made the same pass thinking that it would still do 190 and to my surprise I went over 195 before I hit the binders at the same point, boy did I run out of distance for breaking !

It's amazing what an extra 15 mph. will do.

I love my Akrapovic, Smooth ride and not too loud.
Power increase ~12-15hp from what others have said. I didn't dyno mine.

Hawaii is great not the best for racing because of the track but it is open year round & costs only 8 dollars on street nights

ZX,

Personally I like my HMF. No PCIII required. I do have a small stutter between 5500 - 6000. I usually blow through it!! Other than the stutter no problems. I don't trust the power commanders...yet!

Later,

Red
