Crankshaft lightening/balancingknifedged/polishing Pics

I had my crankshaft done by APE as they were highly recommended by lots of people and they did a pretty good job. These pics are a comparasion of a crank done by APE and one done by Falicon.I am disappointed in the APE crank after directly comparing it with one done by falicon. These pictures will illustrate why.The falicon crank weighed 21 1/2 lbs and the APE crank weighed 21 lbs so it is lighter. They turned down the diameted of the throws of the
crank to do this as we all thought the falicon crank was lighter just by looking at them as there was more taper cut on the side of the throws on the falicon crank.

No one is going to see it once it's in your motor. Falicon did turn my crank around in two weeks which is much better than APE did for you but that is the only thing that has gone well with the attempt to have my motor rebuilt. I have the Carillo rods too so the overall weight between mine and yours will be similar but the weight will be distibuted differently. What kind of pistons are you getting? Did you look at the MTC's that are going with my crank/rods? The wrist pins are much shorter on the MTC pistons compared to my old 1270 JE pistons. The MTC's appear much lighter (the skirt area is smaller too) even though they are larger in diameter. Hopefully Kevin will have a chance to weigh them for comparison too.

Which one is the falicon and which one is the APE in the photos above? How much was it total and is that a standard stroke crankshaft? Did yours need repair or did you just send it to have it lightened?

1st two pictures...Falicon is on the right...The main thing to see in these pictures is...Falicon polished ALL of the crank where as...APE didn't...
3rd picture Falicon-bottom...4th-Falicon-top...
Both are stock stroke...Our Falicon crank (blink's) was Magnafluxed, checked for trueness, lightened and ballanced...
Don't quote me? but...retail is about $400...

Bergie-The more polished crank was done by fallicon.

Blink -I didn't get to see your pistons or rods. Carillo is making two kinds of rods now H beam and I beam not sure which you have.I got my pistons in the mail today 85mm J&E (1270) I bought for $230.

APE charged me $240 , they gave me a $50. discount cause they took so long.My crank was magnafluxed and checked for trueness also.No repair work was done to my crank.
