Make it yourself...

ABS plastic gets plyable after being in the oven...
Make what you want out of cardboard first,
then cut the plastic to match, & heat it up,
put on some gloves & bend it over a board.

It sounds really simple because it is !

We make all of our ABS parts at www.NationalRV.com
It's amazing what you can do with plastics, & it's light.

Some events require metal chainguards. Plus, if the chain ever broke, I'm sure an aluminum guard would hold up better.....probably not "much" better, but every lil bit helps.

eh...I seriously doubt light aluminum would do anything more than add shrapnel to the list of objects that come in contact with your bike...and your leg if you lost a chain at WFO over 100mph.

Now perhaps a stainless steel one

Im going to see if I can make somthing up in the welding class im takin.

The only plastics ones that are allowed per NHRA rules are the ones that come stock on the bike. Otherwise, they spec out minimum thicknesses for steel or aluminum. But, I've seen what a busten chain can do to the tail section of your bike. This is somewhere I wouldn't skimp.

They are building driveshafts out of plastic now !

I saw one at a hot rod show in TN.

They used to think aluminum was weak, (for a drive shaft)
Composite abs plastic can hold up better than you might think.

I took my CF Hugger and cut the curve off and pop riveted the Stock one on the end! Now I plan to put a piece of 1 x 1/8" under the plastic and pop rivet it to the assembly! Fits all of the rules and as safe as it can get!

In my club (and in some British road racing clubs too) we now have to run a chainguard below the swingarm, as well as above.

Thank the insurance companies for that one....

Got the arm from a friend used. I don't see anywhere to mount a chain guard, really don't think I can put one on it.

no problemo w/the Trac chain guard, you just have to drill & tap a couple of holes. Takes about 10 min. I did my 10" Trac arm & extended guard a couple o' weeks ago, and if I can do it ANYONE can do it! Call em up, they have the guards in stock.
