clutch spring replacement
So my clutch died recently and I took it apart yesterday to only find 1 or 2 warped plates.
Given the amount of slip the clutch had up top last time I rode it...it made me wonder if there was somethin else wrong.
Does anyone replace the springs on a regular basis too?
I replaced my stock springs with all 6 ZX6R springs around the 3000 mile mark....now we are lookin at 10k miles...is it possible the springs have begun to wear enough to impact the clutch performance?
In all this talk of replacing the steels and fibers...ive never seen anyone talk about replacing the springs (after replacing the stockers first anyway).

I changed mine once last year, no reason other than cheap insurance. I also have an extra set in the toolbox, just in case.

i replaced mine after 1.5 yrs (350 passes +/-) and they were a bit shorter, but I hadn't really seen any perf difference; like Bergie said, "insurance", and I was doing a few top end tests, didn't want any slipping.

I've had my 6 ZX-6r springs in for well over 2 years, I've got almost 22,000 miles on my bike and I don't know how many drag strip passes and my clutch still does not slip.I've replaced the steels anf fibres several times but I've still got the same 6R springs,same clutch arm and pusher.I guess I'm lucky. I will be replacing the clutch springs soon and have replacement arm and pusher on hand.

I wouldn't think they would wear out that quick. I am using three factory springs and the three that came with the Muzzy kit.
Matter of fact, I pulled my clutch again this weekend and I STILL have not replaced the whole clutch pack since I put the 1270 in early last year. Must be at least 125 passes on the stack now. I did replace one steel and swap one 2.0 for two 1.6's. Took my factory clutch pack along with the older stack from my first pack and used the best steels and fibres to make my stack height right again. Took all of the info I'd read from the "clutch stack masters" (like Entropy and MM) and picked out the best steels and fibres to make it work right again. Looks like that clutch pack I bought earlier from Ron Ayers might last all year long the way it is going......

Unless they get REALLY HOT...they will hold the pressure for a long time...
We haven't replaced John's in OVER 2-years...
I DO have a spring tester here at work though

Was just odd to me (guess im still not comprehending how much power is going through that basket on spray).
When I ran my last run up top last thursday I started in 2nd....Shifted to 3rd and as soon as I hit the button it jumped to redline...immediately shifted to 4th...redline again as soon as the throttle blipped back.
I expected alot more plates to be toast with a performance like that.
