Best top speed / land speed tire???

i would like to know what is the best tire to have for top speed?
power one, power cup, full slick anything else?

i know full slick is pretty sticky when hot but what do you think is best?
thanks!

I've had good luck with Pirelli Supercorsas.
I've had good luck with older gen Dunlop 208.
I've had good luck with Michelin Power One/2CT/Pure
I've had good luck with Dunlop slicks and even the one of the cheapest name brand Z rated tires on the market...Conti motions.

In essence, if the tire doesn't explode and ends up giving you the grip you're looking for given your application then its good.

How is it that you are spinning the tire at 180 mph? What is your application? High-boost Turbo? Huge shot of nitrous?

Are you logging wheel speed? What is your indication of wheelspin?

Well, don't take this the wrong way...but unless you are making huge hp, or you bounced over a big bump, there is no way you are spinning the tire to the tune of 1000 rpm, at 180 mph. I would be looking at my clutch.

Even a good sport-touring tire is adequate for most LSR apps. Even on 200+ mph bikes, with heavy and light riders. Just out of curiosity, how much do you weigh?

200/55 Power one or Power cup is the best I have used recently try it with 40lb of air pressure first if you need to get more grip you could drop to about 35lb cold.
Some surfaces have poor grip levels so you have to just live with it.

We do that all day on R1s....no Darkies.

Depending on the year we have found they have a soft limiter at that speed in 6th which is hard to hear/feel onboard but listening to the flyby you can hear it....barely....its not the "NUN-NUN-NUN-NUN-NUN" sound you hear when on the limiter of many bikes its more like "Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn didnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn didnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn"

Get your suspension dialed in for your weight to ensure that is not the reason for your presumed traction problems.

Wow. Your setup and/or technque is jacked up in some way. My GF just went 201.76 in the mile on my 14R, on a Sportec M3, and she is lighter than you. And I never touched the shock from the factory!

1000 rpm wheelspin...come on, man. Set your suspension up...your bike has to have the rear tire in the air if you are seeing that much wheelspin....unless your clutch is slipping.

Get a datalogger and then report back. This is not a tire issue.

i know those r1 are not aerodynamic but...i'm 200% sure that was not a clutch issue and i have black mark behind me is a good sign of wheel spin...

I'm with Shane.

It is exeedingly unlikely you are spinning the rear tire, laying down black marks at that speed unless you have 120psi, an oiled down tire, or an oiled down track.

I've run a 10" arm with 235hp, 40psi Pirelli SC2 and got maybe a few % slip at 200mph

With my Busa i get the same %slip wiyth 280hp, 3.5" arm, 28psi Power One.

Look elswhere for the cause of rpm increase. As mentioned above the soft limiter makes a good candidate.

Then again, i always agree with Shane!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;-)

I've run 3 different 04-06 models and with a so-so setup 179.9 to 181.1 mph. WIth proper tuning and bolt-ons we've gone 186 on GPS out there but it had an 08 motor shoehorned in. From everything we've seen (on the dyno, havne't topped out the 09+ models) the 09+ make...."lackluster" hp out the box....a smidge less than the 07-08 4v head IMO.

Have you had anyone else jockey your bike to see if this can be duplicated?

Basically with the R1 you start a solid step behind SUZ/KAW/BMW in terms of potential. Are you serious about land speed or just want to get everything you can out of your bike? Because you are fighting an uphill battle with the R1.
