Karl, wow....you dodged a bullet there (AND STILL WENT FAST). Its always good to be able to wiggle your fingers and toes after something like that, for sure. Wish you a strong recovery mentally, physically and spiritually.

Karl is a really good guy, this is terrible news to say the least. But let's all be thankful that it's not any worse and remain positive about his outcome.
Bill Warner's good friend Billy Shoemaker went down yesterday as well - I'm not sure about his condition at the moment.
Our thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

Best wishes Karl. Heal up. Thanks for always being there to fix my stuff and teaching me everything I know about bikes. My sister and her husband are pretty big in the hospital community down in Corpus...if you need ANYTHING have Helena call me.

i've been too preoccupied with my own drama and didn't realize that karl was racing this weekend, so it came as a complete surprise to me when ryan called me with the terrible news. makes my injuries seem trivial by comparison, but then again, karl is much stronger and tougher than i will ever be. as a sacrifice, i have now cut off my own casts so karl can enjoy the undivided attention of the god of orthopedic recovery.
best wishes on a full and speedy recovery, karl. and let me know when you want me to ship you my new oscillating saw for you own in-home evaluation.

Tim, you can ship me that saw, I think I need to do an evaluation on my hand to see if It still matches my purple cast. I promise to then ship it directly to the Gunter home. What happened to put you in a cast? I have orthopedic surgery on Thursday and was pissing and moaning about it, now I have a very different perspective. I will be spending a lot of time praying for our friend Karl. I cant imagine an event without him there.

some guy decided he liked my lane better than his, even though i was still using my lane. my right ankle got crushed under the frame when the footpeg broke off, and my left thumb got pulled back against my forearm by the handlebars as they hit the ground and rotated ccw. so broken right fib, ruptured ligaments in right ankle, ruptured ligaments in left thumb, and surgical repairs on fib and thumb. the bilateral injuries mean that i can't use crutches or a wheelchair, and typing is a one-handed affair. thank god for other one-handed activities, cuz sometimes that's the highlight of my daily schedule. i'm serious about shipping the saw to you if you need it - just drop me an email.

Very sobering to hear news of LSR riders going down, it doesn't matter that we've never met it's still like your brother getting injured. Best wishes for a speedy recovery Karl.

A visitor report from Jen Robertson suggests that Karl is in a lot of pain, but hanging in there. Tough bastid scared the hell out of a lot of people on Saturday.
Just for the record I think the Greg Neal 231 number was mis-heard, a report from Fred Vance stated 221.

I know I have trouble remembering things, especially when I'm under duress. So, I have finally used my TFA hosting account for something worthwhile. If you direct your browser to http://www.teamfatass.com/, there is a parked page that has the aforementioned Caring Bridge URL displayed as a hyperlink, for your convenience. Hope this helps.
