al Qaeda targets Texas: attack TFA HQ!!!!
no other explanation for it.
turbo Busa #1 ripped a chain apart, taking the clutch housing with it.
turbo Busa #2 inexplicably hit with clutch problems, then head gasket also apparently fails.
my ride was down 3-4 mph on pass 3, then quit right after the traps on pass 4, puking outa the overflow bottle.

besides causing my probable blown head gasket, al Qaeda also apparently raided my garage and took my favorite 12mm open end wrench. Bastids!!!!

Looks like al Qaeda are equal opportunity f*ckers- I just blew head gasket #3 in 3 tries. Nothing in the cylinders, but my 5W30 looks like Hellman's. I am getting really sick of this shit. I fear the sleeves are 'dropping' in the block, possibly a result of improper decking. I can swap out a head gasket in 1 hour now, oh boy, put that on my resume. Looks like it's all-motor for me for Prostar. Once more into the breach.

goddamn, Dean, 3 headgaskets???? WTF??? are you running an OEM??? Is there an alternative???
I don't have your level of headgasket experience to put on my resume, but the overflow bottle was puking and the motor just quit when i shut down after the traps. The rear end was wagging so bad I thought it had a flat tire, until the speed dropped enough that i realized the motor was dead..
I'm guessing headgasket, and I'll call around (Doug M, Brock, KCadby) today to see if there is a racing gasket which is better than OEM. I HOPE its just a head gasket... Motor tunes over, but slow...

entropy,Does the muzzy big block just use a modified oem head gasket?I was thinking about going that way with some nitrous pistons but don't want to run into head gasket problems.

I have used Cometic and OEM gaskets entropy, I think the OEM are the best there are. I'm about at the end of my rope. Tomorrow I'l try and get the head checked for warpage. The cylinder head that is - no need for fancy tools to check MY head :P
Any word on your motor?

why is it always 12mm wrenches that go missing?!? i'm not kidding either! both my 12mm disapeared before i ever lost anything else. almost every garage i'v been too is short on 12mm. there's a race of gnomes with a weird fetish living amongst us i tell ya!

I don't know what kind of gasket came with the block??? guess i'll find out soon. The bike is back at its "home away from home", the shop , and will be torn down today.
BTW: how come 16mm wrenches NEVER seem to come up missing????

Hate to say Carl but...sounds like you might??? have hurt a piston or bearing (motor turning over slow)

They HAVE to have a LOT of cylinder pressure on the ZRX Shootout bike!!!

CARL,shit that sucks,I think this big ice storm we are having up here in Dallas is a terrorist attack too,I just bought me a turbo bike(yesterday)and there's 3 inches of ice on every street and I can't ride it!Or even take it to the dyno,my 12's almost ready too,shit,I just want to ride!This years gonna be different dudes,no more blowing my bike up and getting one pass every six mos.,now I've got two!

I THINK I found out why I keep blowing head gaskets - the oring in the #4 cylinder has a decent gap where it butts together - at least .005. I guess I'm gonna pull them all out and have someone redo them after Prostar.

just the opposite, I am running a FBG battery till i get the 280cca installed.
prolly blew up because i DIDN'T have an Interstate battery.

well, it WASN'T the head gasket...
The shaft which drives the oil & water pumps ripped off the "ears" where the shaft joins in the middle. Go figure, brand new pump incl that shaft. Maybe it was defective???
bottom line is that the rod bearings and 1 main bearing are toast, and the rods need replacement. Two pistons kissed the valves but only enough to take off the carbon, no apparent damage to pistons, valves, block, or cases.
The crank now has a .003 bow in it which the builder says can be straightened.
Bad, but not disasterous. Oh well

That doesn't sound too bad, but it isn't good news I guess. I'd be curious why the shaft failed.

Wow, yea I would be very curious as to why the shaft failed? man that sucks dude! well they did say Rubbing was Racing, I wonder if they were speaking about your rods rubbing your crank.....LOL... hey Im laughing with ya man, been down that old road.. hopefully I wont be going back any time soon.
