Clutch info needed
Ive got the Muzzy clutch in my 12 and its time to replace the frictions and steels to get ready for the season. Anyone have a line on the cheapest outlet?..Thanks..Chris

Yup, Ron Ayers is the cheapest place for the stockers. Here are the part numbers:
13088-1131 - friction plates - $8.20 each - (10 needed)
13088-1140 - friction plate - $8.45 (1 needed) - this is the little one that goes on the inside
13089-1124 - 2.0mm steels - $5.56 each (10 needed)
If you do the math, that's $146.05. Schnitz sells the same 'kit' for $199. And, there's a good chance that you will only need to buy the friction plates.

I just bought $500.00 worth of clutches from RonAyers, 6 oil filters, 12 600r clutch springs!!!...I'm good till next year!!!

By the way, how many passes are you guys getting before you have to replace the friction plates????

lol heheheheh In 2001, mine only lasted a month, which is 4 race days and maybe 5 runs each day/night of racing. 
In 2002, I purposely tried a different launching method,.......didn't go quite as quick, had me some 1st gr power wheelie problems, ...BUT my clutches lasted about 3 times as long!!
I need to find a balance between the two!

Yeah what YCIS said...That little plate is known to break!!!
BA, I hear you dude...I find I get the best results at 5,000rpm launches!!!...I get 30 passes per clutch!!!
Wannabe, you must change the frictions and steels each time!!!...Otherwise you risk a good chance of blowing up your clutch basket!!!...You can save fibers that are next to the cleanest looking steel plates....That way if your clutch starts to feel its giving up, you can put in the saved fibers for a few extra runs, then can the whole clutch and replace with fresh clutches!!!

Wannabe,with your setup we have had clutches last 2 seasons(stock clutches and Basket).We now know better about the billet basket because it did finally break at the end of last year in the burnout box.Put a billet basket in(unless you already have it)and run the clutch till it slips.IMHO

Thanks, Cowboy. The billet is the first thing I put in the bike when I started making passes down the strip. 2 season's huh? Now you're making me feel a lot better about going with the slick and wheelie bars.
Crotchrocket: What if I have a billet basket? I thought that you could get away with not replacing the steels as long as they weren't warped?

W, the steels get warped from the amount of heat the 12 clutch generates!!!...Thats why you have to change the steels with the frictions when they start to slip...
If you reuse the steels with fresh frictions what happens is you will break the friction plates!!!...Depending on your skill and how you slip the clutch is how long it will take to break!!!
There are plenty of guys on this board that get many many passes from their clutch..Why because they have many years seat time, having the technique of The Famous Snap & Slide, also EXTENDED ARMS with EXTREME GEARING!!!...With those 2 mods all you do is snap the clutch out and hold on!!!...That saves your clutches big time!!!
For us guys with the stock arms we need to learn technique and only practice/time makes us better!!!

Crotchrocket,Wannabe is using a slick and bar and throwing the clutch away.I go through a shit load of steels just like the rest of you guys.As soon as the clutch starts to feal a bit grabby or after every race weekend i pull out the clutch and replace the burnt ones.I haven't had to replace fibres for a long time now.
