got really close to hitting the elusive 8.5 this wknd. backed up my 8.63 pass from a few weeks ago with an 8.62 @165 on my dads bike.
the bike just hasnt been running the number NA the past few times to the track, its either the heat or its starting to get tired(i did build this motor with spare parts a couple yrs ago including 3 used pistons and used rings....). noticed some extra blow by on nitrous runs now that it didnt use to have. a little oil coming from the case vent. its not leaving as hard as it was. best na run was 9.11 @150

What wheelbase is the bike at now Scott? I thought I read that you shortened it up some?

74 and 1/4ish. my best NA 60 at 75+ was a 1.37. I was doing well to get 1.47 NA this wknd. launch rpm is the same. map is the same. played with static in the clutch a little ( one .025 shim at a time) and if we put in more it bogs, less and its slower, sort of in the sweet spot for the current "power level". its not picking the front tire up like it used to

Well, with the spray it still moves pretty good. 
Maybe a leakdown is in order?? Any chance the clutch is the culprit? NA mph still seems ok?

im thinking it may need rings, so ya a leakdown should be done just to be sure. 3 of 4 holes had used rings that have been to maxton, and dragraced with a 120 shot(not by us)
i went a few shims both ways with static pressure with the clutch and it either bogged and slowed down a lot or just slipped/revved and slowed down that way. the arm/weight and holdback spring setup on the snowflake is unchanged from last yr.
na mph is down some. i had several runs with this bike at 154-155 earlier in the yr and one or two at 156 na. on a really good pass it would need to be shifted to 6th just before the line which dropped mph down to the 150 range but that wasnt the case this wknd. lots of 149 runs with a best of 150

Well Scott, it looks like it was in the low 80's F up there yesterday? That is a lot different than 45-55 degrees as far as mph, et, and hp go...

ya low 80s, but the runs in june were more like 65-70 if i remember right.

Well mph is dead on, right? I would expect it to lose mph if the engine were getting tired? It looks like it's in the 60 ft.. A lot of times you might need to add some gear when it warms up. I guess if it comes back around at the next cooler meet, then you'll know for sure.

the 8.87 pass was one of the runs where i shifted to 6th just before the traps. if i was able to keep it in the top of 5th that meet it was running 155 or so. shifting just before the line(better front half) was getting better et but was hurting the mph. thats my main theory, i could be wrong.

Nice times. My old 1361 pistons were really loose in their bores when I tore it down at around 10k and countless passes. I've seen more than one set of JEs wear the bottom of the skirts quite a bit and let the pistons rock a lot.
