Turbo
Well Guys, I've gone ahead and done it now!
Dougs Turbo 12 will be on the way to "The Land of Smiles" in the not to distant future.
Not quite sure whether I'll make it one of my personal bikes or use it in the Superbike Tour.
Of course the thing will need to be turned down a bit for mere mortals
I'll post an update when it arrives and it's back on the road.
Lookin forward to ridin it

Karl, that almost sounds like a compliment, thanks
Nice ZRX Kawboy! Still looking for one over here. I've seen a few for a really good price, but that was awhile ago. How much are the stock ones going for back in the states?

Hey BB,
You can find clean 1100's for $3,000 to $3,500 with nice 1200's for another grand or so.

Much difference in the bike and the engine, other than the extra 100cc?

First off - WTG Bigbore! Excellent choice. If I were independently wealthy, I would have bought this bike in a minute.
The ZRX1200s had nikasil cylinders, more bore and stroke, and some other small changes I can't think of right now. Most engine parts do not transfer. If you don't plan on modifying it, I would suggest a clean 1100, as they are cheaper.

Thanks for that info, Dean. I'll probably try to find one that's already in country first. What's the latest model year?

I forget, 2006 in the US? They were still for sale in Europe for years after, so hard to say what might be available to you.

Joey,
The kit is from Turbo-Tec USA. The owner Sam Terranova is a good guy to deal with, very helpful when needed.
It's a great streetbike but nowhere in the ball park as far as power compared to the turbo 12's, 14's or 'Busas.
Mine made 202+hp on pump gas with a 8 pound spring and is suppose to make 240+ at 12 psi on good fuel, never have done it though 'cause I'm content as is.
It's all ZRXDeans fault......after seeing his years ago I had to have one!

You're welcome Dan
You might also try contacting Troy Stuart (RZ350 on the boards) - he used to fab and sell ZRX turbo kits, lots of them out there running well.

Hey BigBore,
Here's some good reading on the differences between the ZRX1100's and 1200's.

Hi Dan,
I asked my father (Sam Terranova) if he knew you and he said your a great guy with a great motorcycle family! My father also reminded me that we have met before in his shop at the house. It has been a few years now but its nice knowing that your on this forum! Are your boys still racing?

Well hello Joey,
I remember meeting you while we were in Arizona, it'll be 5 years this fall.....whew, where's it gone?
I've posted many times that your Dad's kit was so complete that when all the parts were gone, I was finished. He a great fabricator & mechanic for sure.
Yep, we're all still racing. The boys can't get off and travel like when they were young but they still go to events when possible.
I met one of your Dads buddies while we were at the Texas Mile in March. Can't remember his name (Karl would know) but he rides a blue ZX14 that Sam made a pipe for. He's probably 60 or so but man could he RIDE, he launched harder than anyone out there, definately a dragracer or former one.
Tell Pops hello for me,
Dan

Will do Dan,
Yep Tom Krause is a hell of a rider on the 14, you should see him on a road race track! What are the boys riding now? From what I remember they are the best of the best. Do you ever plane on going back to the Texas Mile?

Both of the boys have 14's. They work hard on staying fit and riding hard.........I do neither!!
Oh yeah, I see another trip planned for Texas, especially if Karl grills me another steak.
I'm really looking forward to airing it out at Loring in 9 days.

Any plans to revisit AZ?

Joey,
Both the boys run 5.92's or so in the 1/8th on pump gas, foot shifting on stock arms. Haven't been to a good 1/4 mile track but hope to in the near future.
The wifey & I are planning on coming out to Scottsdale in January for the Barrett-Jackson auction. I was gonna touch base with your Dad if we get to make it.
