anyone have a fuel pump fail?

i tried todds iap sensor . it did not help.
the thing that seemed to help is putting my origional ecu in
then it was stupid ritch down low bla bla bla but still a tad lean on top
like 15 to 1

i reflashed my hacked ecu and it is now back to its normal driving but it
leans out on top end progressively and around 10,600 or so it gets real lean fast. and i lost my nice afr curve.

i am thinking my fuel pump and or the filter in the tank may be a issue.

Fuel pumps fail all the time. Have you done a pressure/volume test on the pump?

Not yet, knock on wood. Rocket, are you still running the OEM 2000 pump? I think I found mine sitting around in a plastic bag the other day, its yours if you want it, I owe you for the fender still...

Just follow the service manual's protocol for testing the pump. That's a lot easier.

Hi red rocket,

I had my oem fuel pressure regulator go bad. It coud keep up till about 10k then shit the bed. Once I put a aftermarket fuel pressure reg it worked perfect.

Let us know what you find out,

Joey

Red rocket,
Mine would shit the bed on the lift just revving it up. You might be able to test it in the garage with the gauge and see what it drops down to.

FYI mine oem was 44psi at idle and drop to 32psi at redline

Why would an analog fuel pressure regulator be dependent on engine speed? Even with a vacuum port, there should be no difference in regulated pressure from 10% to 100% throttle once you're past idle.

In brief, if you test your open-loop fuel pump output volume at the bypass port on the regulator with the engine off, you will see how much max flow you have at the regulated pressure. If there's not enough flow to support your fuel consumption requirements (plus a safety margin), then the pump is bad. If the line pressure between the regulator and the pump drops while there is still flow past the bypass valve, then the regulator is bad.

As always, please refer to your service manual for the official test procedure.
