ZX14 Piston Interference Problem

Just started reassembly of the engine. APE stoked the crank 4mm and supplied CP piston, Carrillo rods. Piston pin bosses on 3 and 4 cyclinders are contacting the crank gears. Can the piston be machined or is something else wrong?

Do what Karl siad BUT do it to all of the Pistons and then using a Real good scale try to make all of the pistons, RIngs and Wrist Pins for each cylinder weigh the same.

good tips. one of my buddys that builds a lot of car motors had this issue once when i was at his shop, he was using i think emery cloth or sand paper strips... was a couple yrs ago. he was doing it in such a way that he brought the piston down so it was just about touching, squishing the sand paper inbetween then pulling it back and forth so it only sanded the area that needed clearancing. dremmels may get away from you if you arent really careful. might be harder to do with a bike tho....

I think I would call APE before you remove any metal. They may have made a mistake on the parts that they shipped. If they give you the go-ahead on material removal, I'd call CP to see what the margins are on that pin boss.
