Making a Shift Light work
I have a nice little shift light to put on my bike but nothing else.
What do I use to trigger the darn thing?
Do I need sumtin' from Dyna?
Anyone have something they want to sell that I can use to trigger it?
Thanks,
Allan

One fairly inexpensive ways is using a MSD rpm switch along with a Schnitz 4-1 coil adapter(it's got diodes in it so the coil signals don't interfere with each other). The rpm switch is around $60 from Summit or Jegs. Bout $20 for the coil adapter. Bum a chip from your buddy.

The Dyna Shift Minder will make it work...
Hook it to the Tach lead at the back of the instrument cluster...no 4-way$$$ needed...

A friend of mine and me build a shift minder system, it looks like the Harlan system, but I think our leds cluster has one led more than Harlan's, The cluster is fitted in an aluminium housing (Polished or anodized finish), and you can stick it wherever you want with 3M Dual Lock velcro style tape.
You set the RPM value by accelerating the engine until the desired RPM's, and pushin' the button for 5 seconds and the Microprocessor will 'keep' the RPM value in its memory. When riding, the light will start flashing 1000 RPM before the setpoint and lights flat at the set point.
If I sold it at USA, I'm sure this system will beat some well known shift minder systems because of its price, it's easy to program (ONE PUSH BUTTON!, No 'pills' nor dip switches!) , it's reliable up to 40000 RPM, and the materials used in its fabrication. We sell it here at less than 40 Bucks... but shipping and customs taxes will increase its price highly...
Here are some pics of our product...

And here is the light installed in my bike...

Enjoy...

Well you're only doing it ONCE guys! geez!
Wouldn't bother me a'tall though to rev to 11,000 for 5 seconds.
It isn't a whole lot different than a high speed run in my book!
None the less, I've got the light, I just need the trigger piece which it sounds like the DynaMinder is my deal.

I believe Schnitz sells the minder alone.

Berg, I'm just doing what I can to be consistent!
My friend actually had this light, it's a small 'round 1/2" or so sized, and he gave it to me.
I just need to get it on the bike!
Got the Schinko late last year too.
Hopefully I'll replace my clutch forks here shortly, and think about some kind of electrical cut out for the shifter, but not an "air shifter".
Gots me a couple little other somethin' somethin's too.
Thanks for the tips everyone. Kevin, I'll call Dan-ster!!
FUCK THE ADAPTER!!!!

you want to be consistant? get an auto shifter; connect your airshifter and use an rpm pill to activate your shifts.

Hmmm. Me and friend both use the Schnitz adapter. His triggers the Dyna minder and mine the MSD with no problems. The Dyna shiftminder is much more compact but I know people that have had problems getting them to trigger properly also. Their instructions are something out of the 70's . They don't even mention wiring one to a 4 coiled bike and they were no help on the phone in that department either.
BA, I've been using the Dale Walker cutout box on both my bikes for a couple of years now. Love em. Plenty sneaky and make you sound like a pro footshifter.

BA...we used just the SportBike Kill Box on John's bike untill I got the airshifter to work right (with the shim in the regulator for higher pressure)...
It worked GREAT!!! I used the horn button and my FOOT...
When you see the Shift Light...push the shifter (GP shift pattern) then the horn button...worked GREAT (to repeat) NEVER MISSED A SHIFT...NOT ONE! and consistent as can be!!!
