Another dumb question
Am I wrong in thinking that it is impossible for a bone stock 2009 Busa to go over 190mph? I thought that they were elctronically governed to go no faster than around 186.4mph. I am sure that I am somehow confused and hope that one of you smart guys can help me out. When I say bone stock I mean no changes ........ no pipe no nothing. Thanks bunches.

The bike is speed limited. So, bone stock, as it comes off the floor, no...it will not go 190+....however.....
It is easy to defeat the limiter in some cases. For example, on a ZX-14 you can unhook the speedo and make one unrestricted pass before it throws a code and you are then limited. I am not sure if you can do something similar on the Busa.
Most people derestrict them through electronics like a speedohealer, or reflashing the ecu, etc..

There is a long down hill off I-15 . . .
Pin it & up shift through 186.
It might carry 190 MPH?
But I would doubt it,

No I did not buy a busa but there is a 2006 spedial edition that lives in my garage. I ride it some. I am trying not to like it because Karl has already moved over to the "dark side" and I know Doug would refuse to help me with a Busa. I don't think he would work on the "dark side" and I would not be a part of any of the sport that I have grown to love so much without him and the endless help that he has given me. Karl has also played a huge roll in helping me race. There are countless others also like Dr. Gary, Todd Shultz, Debbie and Todd Dross, and so many of you guys from bikeland. I can't believe what a great group of people all of you guys are and what a lucky girl I am to have bought Doug's old Bonneville bike and the series of events that followed. I am so blessed and so thankful to be a part of such a great group of people. By the way, for what it is worth, I was the fastest in the new stock class 1199cc and under at the Texas Mile by 12mph. Yay me! There are not many people who ride bone stock bikes but I was still the fastest. I am also the fastest person In motorcycle E class no power adders on my zx11 for all the Texas Mile events. How cool is that? I am such a lucky girl.
The reason I asked about the Busa is because the fastest in the stock class of 1200cc-1349cc was taken by a Busa that did 194.6 or so. I didn't think that was possible on a bone stock 2009 bike with a pretty strong headwind the whole weekend. Guess someone was fudging a little.

At Maxton (and in the SCTA, to the best of my knowledge), a production class bike can have all kinds of modifications. It just needs to appear stock.
For example, a 1570cc ZX-14 could run in production class...since the motor is within the base class (1650) for that machine. It could also be derestricted and have any other number of modifications. But the machine must outwardly appear to be outfitted with stock equipment.

Brenda, the 08s are pretty strong. I rode one a few times. They are restricted electronically stock. You can derestrict them pretty cheap, at which point its geared for about 200 mph, if you have the HP/distance/aero to do it.
I went 191.9 mph at the 7/10ths on the limiter with -1 up front and -1 in the back with slipons, race filter, pc3 and a tune, pump 87 octane:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yE0iGUOEWTA
It has great torque down low, much moreso than the 12....up top its character was strong and peaky up top IMO like the 12. Aero was smooth, I felt about NO wind on me WHATSOEVER. It felt too easy.

YAY Brenda, TFA is proud of YOU!!!!
On "fudging a little"...
The bone stock classes have to allow mph limiter beaters or all the big inch bikes would all run 186. No fun in that.
The gen II Busas are beasts, no doubt about it.
I'm waiting for Kawasaki to either turn up the hp, or ditch that fukken stupid moncoque frame & get some better aeros.
Honestly there is no way i'd buy another Kawasaki with that stupid (for racing) frame.

This is directly from the Texas Mile web page........
Factory Stock: Classification retains all a factory produced drive-train, electronics, chassis, exhaust, induction and layout. Modifications are allowed to meet the set safety requirements outlined in the technical rules and regulations. Cosmetic changes to the paint, ancillaries, and changes of tire make are allowed. Tires must retain a DOT rating. Performance enhancing modifications are not allowed to the drive-train, electronics, chassis, exhaust, induction and layout.
Factory Stock class will not allow any modification deemed speed enhancing by the Tech Inspection Official.
So that being stated could this 2009 Busa have gone a few tenths over 194.

As I say, you can unplug 1 connector on a 14 and make one fully unrestricted pass. That is without adding or changing any electronics. Can you do the same on a Gen II Busa? I don't know...

Well I think he did a few more than one pass anyway all above 190 but either way Tim Chin put up a link to a real cool website. Thanks Tim, you always come up with the cooest stuff. I hate that I couldn't make it to Mojave this weekend, one of the best parts about going there is getting to see you. I hope to make it in the fall but I am sure Karl will be there are you planning on coming out for the day?

On the 14 you can make a full pass with it unplugged. Then you plug it back in and ride around the pits. And then you unplug it again for the next pass...so in that regard, you can make as many passes as you want, unrestricted.

Seeing you and Karl is the only reason I go to Mojave. It's certainly not for the good weather or the food! If you guys are coming out in the fall, then I will be there for sure. Hopefully, nobody gets arrested this time. BTW, my kids' preschool is still working through those bags of Popsicle sticks.

Thanks for the kind words Brenda. I am with Karl, Until they stuff that ZX-14 motor in a ZX10 frame it's a no go for me. I'll still keep my old 12 though. I have got to get busy on the turbo. I have just been under the weather since the Mile and the kidos are full on with baseball for the next Month and a half.
Yep, those Gen II Busa's are very strong. Amazing what you can do with the ECU editor. No need to add electronics.
I heard Ryan and the Mile folks are headed to Beeville soon to figure out logistics. Ryan is pushing for one of the better of the three strips.

We are so lucky to have Ryan watching out for us. Imagine what it would be like without him. And thanks to the link that Tim posted I get it now. He could have easily gone 194 without adding anything.

Brenda,
As you know, there is nothing easy about 194
Gary,
Tell Ryan we can deal with whichever strip runs frm SE to NW.
