Finally,ACE PERFORMANCE ENGINE BUILD.....

Well finally got my bike back to Gainesville after a full massaging down at SAL`s place......
I`d like to thank you guys for turning me on to ACE PERFORMANCE and Sal to help me get my bike all straightened out from a motorcycle shop here in town that screwed me over.....Sal took this basket case and turned it into a working piece of mechanical art.....This thing is sweet, runs perfect.....Not one weird noise, oil leak or knocking sound.....I can`t believe how much harder this thing pulls from 1st to 6th and everywhere in between......Thanks again to you guys.....It was well worth the 5 hour drive,grrrrrrrr....lol...With the price of gas the way it is I tempted to take a bus down there and ride the bike back,it would have been a lot cheaper...lol....$180 in gas round trip....
I`ll post up some 1/4 mile numbers soon....Sal freaked on my 1/4 mile gearing when he was testing it out....Got to 6th quick, compared to what his bike is geared for....
Paul....

What is your wheelbase, Paul? What are the specs on the setup; what did it normally run before?

Ha! 5 hour drive? I drove 2k miles round trip!

My wheel base is right at 68" w/out a strap on it....I don`t need one...Or didn`t,might need to put one on after testing to see what she does....
C&S 12" over arm
NOX`s old double clicker rear shock...Has a really sweet compression and rebound action to it....
Stock wheels/brakes
Bear stacks
Multi stage MTC lockup
Before the build it ran 9.4`s to 9.5`s in the heat....@ about 145 shifting at 11,000
Dammit man....2k miles ouch.....I suck at long distant driving....

Sounds like a strong setup...just curious, what do you weigh? I thought about going 66"+, but I don't think I can swing the funds this season. Maybe if I sell some spares...

Thanks brother....Still have a ways to go on the chassis height...I do have another oil pan that can go on and get her down a couple more inch`s.....It would be nice to get it lighter some too.....I`ll see how she goes this sat.

I made 2 pass`s today....One was just a shake down pass 9.66@147mph just to see whats up.....
2nd pass I took 2 .050 shims off of 2 springs.....Came out at 3500 and went through the clutch good but not hard enough, left a little on the table.....1.50 60`.....9.35@148mph going through all 6 gears at 12,000 on the shift light....Might need to put the 18 tooth on.....17/51 now.....Over all pretty satisfied with the power it has.....Just have to figure out how to squeeze it out to maximize the full potential....Not enough time today.....

Give it time, I am sure you will be knocking those ET's down soon enough.

I am taking mine next month, but at around 64", with hand clutch. I'll probably be around 250 lbs suited. So, we'll see how it goes. I have a lot of work to do in order to get the bike ready.

EDIT: Just re-read. If you are going through in 6th on 17/51@12k rpm, your clutch is slipping really bad! You should be able to run 155+ mph, on a short tire, in FIFTH gear. Closer to 160 mph if the tire is 77" or more in circumference.

Yes, after your thought on the slippage made me think that that might have been why it was hitting the shift light so freaking quick....I going to pull the clutch pack tomorrow, read the tea leaves and see what the story is......Let y`ll know....I know it takes more than 2 pass`s to figure this new setup out.....We`ll see wasssup.....

I am taking my 1287. I am hoping to go to MIR twice in April. Once to do a rough dial-in of the setup, and a 2nd time to run the bike in near final form. I am sure there will be quite an adjustment period to get used to this bike at the strip...very different from a 14.

Although the motor is really set up for LSR (exhaust and cam timing, etc), I just want to have a little fun with it. Then I will probably take it to one LSR event this year too.

Well Paul, right now I don't know where my cams are set...but Sal asked me if I wanted them set for dragracing or LSR. I imagine the lobe centers are spread further apart on the LSR configuration, for more top end power.

Cool,cool.....So at the track for you, your power would be more in the upper rpms per shift???

Most likely....but without asking Sal, I can't say for sure. It's probably not a huge difference, but I might give up some ET with the combination of cam timing, short bear stacks, and Muzzy Pro Pipe. All of those things take away from low-midrange power to some extent.

paul some can get 100ftlb at a quite low number on a bigbore kitted 12. i think by 6000.
when i do my bike i plan on marking a scribe mark i am hoping every 2deg on both cams so i only have to map out the degrees once. then it can be moved from one line to a nother in the bike. (this is my goal anyway) just need to know where one is before going to a nother line (hoping the correct way again)
if you told him 4500 i bet it is set well.
what were your 330s compared to the 60ft times on the good runs you got?
