Farewell to MAXTON
I don't know if I have just been out of the loop, and just hearing this is rather shocking and sad. On the other hand I wish the ECTA well and hope plans move forward for them with multiple venues.
Best Wishes,
Gary
MAXTON Letter:
For the 2011 Maxton race season, the ECTA has come to an agreement with the Gryphon Group which will allow us to continue the use of the runway through the October Event.
It is the position of the Gryphon Group that 2012 will see an increase in their training and traffic, which will require them to fully use their leased area. In other words, they have written us a letter stating that it is their intent not to allow us any further use of the facility in 2012. During our meeting, we agreed to look at possible ways to continue in 2012. The ECTA
will continue to try and work with the Gryphon group as we move through
this year.
At our Board of Directors meeting held in August, we mapped out a plan to find other possible sites to create a traveling series. This Plan was to
have a couple of events in the deep south in winter, moving to a mid-states
for early spring and late fall and a northern mid-summer event. We have been
actively searching ex-military airbases and have a couple of good possibilities. If you are aware of sites that have two miles of undisturbed runways, please let us know about them. The ECTA has no plans on going away but it will be different.
We collectively need to work together to insure our 2011 season at Maxton is successful by not interfering or disturbing the Gryphon Group’s training facilities. Upon arrival at Maxton you will be given a map of the off limit areas, and no matter how tempting it might be to play in them, it will be our responsibility to keep our people out of these areas. Our pit area will change, and you can expect to see those changes at the gate as you enter. The gate will open on Friday morning at 9:00 AM prior to each meet.
Thank you for your continued support,
East Coast Timing Association

yup,
those who haven't done Maxton, gitterdun in 2011.
fergitabout what you've heard about track condition, it doesn't make no never mind at speed.
Yep, it's not Texas smoothasglass, but so what?
Great people, very well run events.
Laurinburg's Clinton Inn doesn't have roving prostitutes and drunk gypsy craft-laborers like America's Best Value in Beeville, TX, but hell, it's a small price to pay. Just a little loss in ambience.
Looks like i gotta squeeze a Maxton event into my 2011 dance card

I hate loosing a track in my back yard... But at least I can say that I put it to good use setting over a dozen records there, with 10 records still on the books.

Vincent if' you want to bring both but can only fit one let me know. I can take 2 bikes down, one on the trailer, one on the back of the truck. And fitting 2 nina 250s in the back of the truck is cake.

I think Mr. Hill is looking for Sept 24-25 for the ZX-12.
Weekend after WOS. Makes it kind of tight.
Shiphteey sounds like he is ready to roll in April and hit everyone!

You Light Weight TFA Who do you think you are Kidding! I am about 1/8 TON Dressed and you are about 50 less than me at about 200!
Ali, I have pleanty of roon in the van for 2 ZRX1100's so I think a 12 and 250 should fit easily!
Gary, my thinking was the last race would be over flowing and September the crowds would still be wore out from other places! I did not think you were going to turn to Salt!
I do have the 250 running very well and a little larger front tire and a Prototype Hindle 2-1 Exhaust I could be testing??
I only mentioned this if the 12 either was not finished or the testing went badly! I am not bringing the 12 unless I have reliable 300+ HP and more like 325 with 375 possible. I know that 275 is "Easy" but like a former President once said I want to do it because it is Hard to do!

Vincent, if you need a spot to "test" I have one local to us.
I went 112.1 mph at the spot and 112.7 at Maxton so its pretty accurate in terms of projecting speeds.
Let me know,

Thanks Ali, I do most of my "Testing" on the Dyno with a Sniffer and my old Laptop and Data logger. Also using 4th gear gives me an Idea of top speed. I am also installing the Over Drive 5th & 6th Gears so I can have a better NA Launch. I have made my bike too complicated for me to deal with and I have to simply make it easier to deal with. Right now, it is like the Check List of the Space Shuttle with fuel pressure settings vs NOS Regulator setting and the staging of the NOS and then turning on everything and watching everything. I barely have the time to see where I am going!

Mr. Hill, I know you already know this, but make sure 5th and 6th match up to your tranny.
Hope your run is as spectacular as the Space Shuttle launch!

?? I sent him the entire Trans to match up everything (because he uses a different Back Cut angle) Is that what you are tanking about? Never assume that I know anything! Now that I am dealing with Part Timers, Some Timers and All Timers then CNRS (Can not Remember "Anything")
