its ALIVE!!! (again)

finally my bike is in one (more or less) piece again so I went to Sabin in Dallas for a little dyno tuning and fuel testing.

Conclusions
1. nutec mixed 50/50 w/104 track gas LOSES 4-6 hp everywhere on the curve.

2. hp is up from the 1375, and Jim added 2-8 hp over the 1270 map I got from Brock with the step Hindle (no surprise that it needed more fuel)

peak SAE hp: 222 @ 11.2
peak torque: 124 @ 7.7

pretty flat curve from 9.0 (209) to 11.6 (221)

Actual hp was a "female pubic hair" under 230 (55 degrees)

Now I need a day warm enough to get traction!!!!

Hey Carl. Why was it apart again?
What was the first pull?
I'm trying to see the improvement.
Thos eare great numbers. I'm just trying to guess as to whether or not we're gonna see a solid 8, or not?

Wazzup, Chris,
It was apart to fix my smashed oilpan and starter clutch. Hafta drop the engine & split the cases to get at the goddamn starter clutch...

I hadn't yet brought it to the dyno for tuning after putting in the new cylinder block, hence the trip to Sabin yesterday.

The "as delivered" pull was 215 max. Once again, Jim came thru!

8's????? we'll see, eh?

Are you any closer to making a bike outa all those shiny parts???

HOLY SHIT KARL!!! Thats what I'm talkin bout! 230hp!! That fucker is making some ponies now. Especially considering Wes' 1507 busa only made 230hp and thats with a GOOD head on it. Congrats, god knows you deserve it for the kinda loot you sunk into it. So much for retirement eh?? FUCK who wants to retire?> Just keep racing! You got enough motor for 8.60s now baby! You should break 160mph on motor! You bastard! Let me know when you go to the track next. Later bud!

Thx guys,
Internals are tweaked here & there, but most of the increase comes from Hans Monster Scoop & Fitch Fuel Catalyst

4.6mm crank & big block add a little power; nutec a little more...

I would REALLY like to get around the 11.6 redline, but do NOT want to get into the complexity of a Muzzy ECU. any ideas???

Just want to confirm your mods for the site I use hear in the UK. It's mainly full of Busa guys who think 12's aren't buildable. I want to tell them about your hp but first want to get my facts correct.

Your bike is making 222hpSAE. (1375 + 4.6mm crank = 1428).
What cams do you have?.
Any other mods?

I know I'm being a pain in the ass but I just want to shut them Busa mouths up.

NM, you are NOT being a pain in the ass; I LOVE talking about this stuff

my basic hp mods are:

Muzzy billet crank (4.6mm)
Muzzy billet big block, gives 1427 w/4.6mm crank
Lee's cams, intake and exhaust
"Lee's" aftermarket Busa valve springs (yes indeed, busa)
Bear stacks (5mm shorter than OEM)
very mild port clean up
crank balancer off
Brock's StreetSmart step pipe Hindle
Monster snorkle (adds anything???)
Nutec SP5
de-oiled K&N filters

I know that 222 is not a world record (bahahahahahahahaha...), but it is an honest number. The dyno I use is NOT a happy dyno. It gave me:
188-190+/- for 1361, Akro
192-4 for 1375 w/ Lees cams, Akro
203+/- for 1375 w/ Lees cams using nutec, Akro
222 for 1427 w/Lees cams, Nutec, Brock's SS Hindle step pipe

BTW: where in UK are you. I will be going to London, Pembroke, Aberdeen during the week of Feb 17. Maybe I can buy you a pint or two... You do have Bud Lite there don't you???

Anyone think that the Snorkle would make more HP if just the Opening was decreased in size? (Of course other than me!)

Entropy,

Thanks for the spec mate. I live in Bournemoth (south coast) about 1hr 30mins from London. It would be great if we could meet up for a few beers in London and YES we do have Bud Lite plus a shit load of English beers that I'm sure you would love to taste. I have given my e-mail below so before you come contact me and I will give you my phone number and we can arrange a meet up.

VH,
That's a good thought, and MUCH easier to accomplish than doing some back to backs removing the Hans, and replacing it with the OEM snorkle. I'm a lazy cuss!

Entropy - I imagine you just want to RIDE IT now but I bet the bottleneck now (ha ha, a 222hp 'bottleneck') is your cylinder head - with all that displacement and cam, the stock ports are small. I'm guessing, but for $800 you could prolly get another 10hp, without sacrificing much low-rpm port velocity.

He just loves to leave a little in the bag, Dean. Gives him an excuse to tear it apart further down the road.

Good to see you on line with the machine Entropy. And 222 isn't anything to sneeze at. Sounds like it should kick ass. As for the snorkel... It is still all theory! If indeed it makes less power, then everyone running K&N's and or any other free flowing filters are also making less power! Leave the snorkel alone and enjoy the damn thing!!!
