Dr. Doug, It hurt to see the tips damaged and I did not have to spend a dime but I know someone did. That is a sleek little plane with a very smmth shin and transition between the sings and body. Is the top speed 400 MPH?

Doug....
It looks like it's a hotrod !! I've done my share of PT6 hot section inspections / overhauls in the field... I worked for a few regional airlines that operated EMB110 "bandits" and Twin Otters back in the day...and most recently on a Converted Piper Malibu. They really are pleasure to work on compared to some of the other stuff out there.
Looking good !! Roy

GE LM2500 16 stage comp 6 power turbin 20000shaft hp per unit.
idle on the big boy was 5000 top on the gas generator was 10000 i think.

Does that Evo qualify for the 51% rule? Or are these going to be certified?

doug here is the bird i worked on for 5 years on my ship. it is a GE LM2500 gas generator section. we had two clutched to a huge reduction gear and was rated at 20,000 each. my engine room was the place to be running balls out.

i think it was the first 8 stages and IGVs were variable. this thing made enough extra air we used it for cross bleed starts for the off line birds air starter and what the navy called masker air> we had two belts under the ship with holes and the running turbins bleed air was used to make us sound like a rain storm to a sub.
it was cool changing them out like a small block chevy.

Wow, OMG, what a flash back !!!
I was at the launching of the Clark and the Mcinerney among many others. They were the first two of the FFG series built in Bath, Maine.
The Mcinerney (the first of the class) was just decommissioned a few months ago.
Boy does that make me feel old.

I dont remember all the ffg and ddg launchings i've been to but those being the first of the class i do.
BIW was the last shipyard to do conventional ship launchings where they slide the ship down the ways. As of several years ago they started lowering them in with the drydock.
It took all the fun out of seeing them launched.
