Nitrous question for King

When I bought my Schnitz dry kit it said use your PC to add extra fuel but Fastestr1 used his kit without adding the extra fuel for over 6 months without any problems. Am I right in thinking that with a 36 jet and below the air box sensor compensates for the extra fuel. If this is correct do you know what the limit is on how much extra fuel the air box sensor can compensate for?

Cheers

He told me that the sensor could only compensate for 40hp max on one stage.I ran 2 stage (40hp each)all year and pistons look fine.No pc3,just inline resistor

I think the sensor will compensate some, but not what you think. We did run the dry with no pc. We or shall I say I, didn't run nos jets, I was using nx and they are smaller then the nos ones. They were going faster then I was. I am planning to try a single stage with a 26 nx and richen my map 2% @100 throttle.

I have approximately 100 dry systems out there right now on zx12s, fireblades, gsxr 1000s, rc51s, zx6s and a few others as well, the air temperature sensor is capable of 25% temperature change in the airbox which translates to about 25% of stock hp.

160 hp stock divided by 25% = 40hp without any other source of fuel mods if the bike has stock timing on pump gas. nos jet .038

If you add the resistor you can add up to 60 hp on pump gas with stock timing. I would highly recomend a billet basket. nos jet .055

If you have the resistor and add c-16 fuel you can add up to a max of 80 hp with stock timing. I would highly recomend a billet basket. nos jets .055 first stage .018 second stage.

More secrets from Lawson drag racing that don't cost you anything hmmmm Wayne is a nice guy with free info hehehe.

The 26 nx jet requires no fuel change it is about a 18-22 hp jet. I have personally three bikes with these setups that are all over 5000 miles and the 2000 bike has about 20,000 miles at 240 hp pump gas everyday rider.

King,

Please educate me about this resistor that you and Cowboy talk of. What does it do? How much is it? and how easy is it to install?. My bike makes approximately 185-190hp on motor so what size jet would you reccomend to use.

Bike set up

Full Akro with K&N's
Bear Stacks
Muzzy clutch
PC3R
Barrel skimmed (compression now 13.5:1)
Head ported
Schnitz dry kit

Thanks King once again for your help and advice. It's much appreciated.

With the mods you have you can put a .038 nos jet no problem, as long as you did not advance the timing from stock. If you did you will need to use a retard device shnitz makes an EFIR box for that now and is apperently very effective.
The resistor is not needed if you have the pc3r my bikes and cowboys bike don't have the powercommander in them. If you want a resistor I'll mail you one free shoot me an email at home I'll send it and a pic of were it goes, but like I said you don't need it with the pc.
Hmmmm more info for shnitz to copy lol.

Anyone tried a NOS #46 pill on a built motor? I was thinking about stepping up from a #34 to a #46 on the dyno next week. I will fine tune the A/F ratio on the 34 pill first, then see how much time is left.

Also I assume there shouldnt be any difference if I use a 10 pound bottle as my source while on the dyno right? Filling two 1lb bottles will probably be a pain so I figure I'll just run a short time to a 10 pounder on the floor instead.

no difference cept for temp and pressure (1lb bottles get much colder when used than a 10lb bottle does).

Meaning you are going to get ALOT more liquid from a 10lb than you would from using the 1s.

46 pill is niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice....showed it to a few friends last night

.046 nos jet should give you 44-52 hp between 750 psi- 900 psi, as YCIS says the big bottle will hold temp snd give you solid numbers you will likely loose about 3-5 hp with the small bottle at the track.
Make sure you have enough line on the bottle don't want to tip the 10 lb'er over in the dyno room, this little info from a personal experience oops.

Wayne I'm making ~45 extra rearwheel ponies on a #34 (NOS brand) jet now, do you think stepping up to a #46 will only give me another 10hp? If so, it's hardly worth it IMHO. Let me know what you think..

if your making 45 hp on a #34 jet you must be running about 1400psi

Cowboy- No that was at less than 900psi. It's a built motor with headwork from Lees, which I guess is reacting well to nitrous? I don't even think that has a lot to do with it because this is average for what some other people have been getting too...
Regardless I will let you guys know what happens

On stock motors the numbers are close to what I said on the built motors the higher compression is better for nitrous and is usually about 20% better. You are getting more out of the squeeze of higher compression forcing the nitrous to expand faster with the heat of compression, I hope that explains it. The nx jets tend to be a little less for some reason but I don't know for sure how they are sizing their jets.

NX sizes there jets exactly the same. They actually claim more flow because they flow test them with c-16

King,

When I had my bike on the dyno it made 40hp with the 36 jet. Since then I have had my barrel skimmed raising the compression to 13.5:1 and had the head ported. Are you saying that when I have the bike dynoed now that same 36 jet will give me more hp cos of the head\barrel work?

I would think another 5 hp is possible with the extra compression, the head work only helps flow better but the compression should make a difference. Let us know when you try it again.

48 hp at 1000 psi. ?

I seriously doubt that 2lb bottle got hot enough to reach 1000psi...but 850/900 is a possibility....and it was full of liquid.

Im currently working on a small bottle heater setup for our size bottles. Hopefully it will work out quite well

YCIS

Here in the UK I put my bottles in hot water prior to a run cos the weather here is so bloody cold even in summer and I cant afford a heat blanket. Once I got distracted and when I came back to the bottle it had reached 1300 psi. That was a close call........

hehe...Yea..ive used that technique a few times...however after about 20minutes of riding in the freezin ass cold...the temp is right back down.

The heater setup idea came to me while I was in walmart looking at Heating pads....seems like a cheap solution for 20 bucks or so.

Keep me posted on that heat pad idea!. Sounds allot cheaper than a heat blanket.

I leave my spare bottles on the dash facing the sun, easily have 1200 psi even on cooler days as long as the sun is out.
Heating blanket sounds good controlling the heat seems to be the problem, even on the nitrous blankets they seem to fade as time goes by. I have two in the garage that the elemeents are good but the sensors are gone. Dash works well have to keep an eye on them with the infra red blew a couple reliefs this year talking to people and forgetting to check, luckily didn't break anything or hurt anyone I think I will try something else this year.
