Loring turnout
I didn't want to jack Jim's post. How were the spectators this year and were they allowed to go further down the track to experience the speed? Jim mentioned Sherman doing the video thing which was a no-no last year because you couldn't go past the tower. If I remember right, they had spectators parking right along side all the entrants and it got a little tight. Were they moved to their own spot?

spectators had a big area to park near the tower on the hill at 1/4mile, great view + BBQ.

Spectators were only allowed to the tower same as last year.

Are all the land speed races the same way, where the spectators aren't allowed past a certain line?

Yes! Nobody is allowed too close to the big end, especially shut down. Not all that different from the drag strip. You don't want people too close to the end where things are being pushed & more likely to see issues occur. Completely a safety thing!
