data logger cable

does anyone know if the cable that connects the LM-1 to the LMA-3 is just a normal cable i can get at a radio shack or similar store?

the ends look like the same type of cable used on the older key boards and mice (before they went to usb)

i shortened mine and now im wondering if i ruined it. i soldered and shrink tubed the wires and replaced the shielding with aluminum tape...it worked for awhile then quit. i want to rule out the cable as being bad before i start buying new boxes

I bet it is the cable. Take a picture of the cable end, and look at the pinout to compare, post a pic. I have a lot of those Kb's laying around.

its not the ps/2 mouse cable. they have a plastic tab in the middle where the logger cable has another pin or 2

I think it's an 8-pin DIN, like the old Apple serial cables. They're rare these days. I had to order mine from Mouser.
