Shane, hell yes the bike has a lot more in it. I still know that it would take different gearing to get some of it. I know that at Texas when I did a 186.8 there was a lot more left when I went through the traps. Maybe it was the evil devil crosswind that day that or what but I know that I never got perfect shifts I had a little bit of throttle left that I didn't realize was there and I had 1000 to 1500 rpms left. It was still pulling hard through the traps. So tell me this what would the difference in 16/39 and 17/45 be when it down to it. I know what it felt like but I don't actually know what the math would say should happen? Did I ask that right and am I making any sense? Also at Loring I pulled the front wheel up a few inches in second gear, that was cool. To bad I never had anything left for that last half mile. All I could do was try to stay out of the limiter which is 11500 and try shifting my tuck to see if there was gain or loss. I hope I am not sounding like an idiot.

Brenda, that is around 3.5 teeth in overall gearing. That is a very large change. What gearing did you run at loring vs. Tx? I am on my phone typing this on the road, so I can't be too wordy.
16/39 would give you a theoretical higher top speed at the expense of quite a bit of acceleration.
Choosing proper gearing can be complicated and it is best to make small changes and evaluate them. After awhile you will know what works for your bike under various conditions.

Brenda Sue,
Gearing can be complicated, so just ask yourself: "WWLD?"
I hope that is clear.

i did not have much to choose from, available were a 16,17and 39,45. 2 front and two rear. I ran the 16/39 at Texas and due to fuel filter problems on day one I did not get a good run in at all untill day two. At Texas I ran 16/39 and started Loring with 17/39 went 180.something changed to 17/45 and that is where Rickey and I did 185.'s. Wish I would have had time to try the 16/39 set up cuz I know what is felt like at Texas. Felt like I had more and might could do 190 but not at Loring with the other gearing. It felt like I was cashed out. Like the guy on star treck that says Captain I am giving her all she's got.
Sorry to be a hitchhiking, hyjacker of this thread.

Thanks so much grime buddy I should have remembered that is all I had to ask myself. And the answer is ride a turbo. Yup, and I surely would have gone faster.

You would be surprised how many 300 hp turbos fail to break 200 mph at maxton!

dan at the old action machine who set up my engine on the old zx11 had a frame and a drive shaft to go from the output shaft to the "car"engine dyno shane. last night when we were degreeing tshults cams i was talking about making a frame and shaft for my zx12s and i would guess a 14 would fit also since you can make a 14 fit into a 12 frame.
cam degreeing would be much eaiser. if all the adapters will fit to the 4 throttle bodies one could get volumectric eff with the pull. it is the best idea over a drum.
my duster engine is going to bakers to get run in and tuned. hope in the next month.
