.00 tree with a 8.50 bike running the 9.50 index ..

If you've got guys doing that and winning consitantly then the other racers aren't very good. You can't always depend on having the best light and taking the finish line because if a guys has a decent light and runs his time the margin will only be a few inches.

If I were running a track and doing a heads up class for bikes I would do 5.90 or 6.00. Any quicker and you limit the bikes that will enter.
that's where street et comes in, a pretty fast heads up class is fun to watch.

i think i'll have to come to see these street bikes .. cause MOST true streetbike{DAILY RIDERS} ain't gonna run a 6.0 1/8th mile .. i think if you want to have a " street bike class " it has to be rode in ..and no mathews unloading it a mile from the track don't count

I agree that most true street bikes around here don't run those numbers, but I rode my bike to work today, it sits at 63" and I have run 5.70's and consitantly run low 5.80's in this heat. So there are some true street bikes that will run those numbers. The only thing I do when I get to the track is lower the rear 3 full turns on the links and strap the front. Now I do trailer it to the track so I can carry a cooler, fan and pop up cover. Bike is a 2000 ZX12R with stock body work.

maybe we or me is on a differant page when it comes to street bikes .. to me if it can't do a 200 to 300 mile ride ..its not a streetbike .. STREETBIKE to some is from the house to a meet and greet 5 blocks down the street and back home once a month ..

i don't have a bike 1 that i can't 2 up if need be and ride anywhere on .. what i call a streetbike ..i guess my bikes could be call tour bikes then . only reason i trailer is if i break something at the track ..

I've ridden mine from Memphis to Birmingham a couple of time for the AMA races which is 3 hours one way. Don't have to ride 2 up, wife has her own R1 to ride. I've got about 12K miles the engine in the bike now.
I know what you're saying though, there are a lot of bikes that have race body work with a cheap AutoZone fog light as the headlight and they are still called street bikes. Most tracks call it a street bike if it doesn't have wheelie bars and has a street tire.

I would like to come to your race just to see the jockey challenge with Keith Dennis. When i started racing in 1990 he was already well known around Memphis but I didn't know him. I had a 89 ZX10 that I thought was pretty fast for a stock engine bike. I ran Shine a few times and thought there was no way his GSXR1100 was stock. Little did I know at the time who I was racing and how good he really was/is. You never see him on a bike any more, he's always running a car at the track these days. Guess he's bored with ET racing and no grudge racers want to run him.

Now, let me preface this by saying, I talked with Tonto on the phone this week.., he is MBFAM,

but, didn't you both go out first round on Sat?

My bike will go 9.2s and 9.1s up there......., but we are running a 9.50 class......, which is why you only see me run 138 to 140 mph all out, if that is my set up for the day, I also have a reverse set up, that will go the same et at around 145ish........, which one I bring to the line, you gotta guess on........

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZuQhgiWlP0&feature=related

Point on all of this is flat this......, if a sandbagger is winning, the guy in the other lane did not run the number, or hit the tree.....

IF the sandbagger does not hit the tree......, and the guy in the other lane does his job, the sandbagger MUST break out to take the stripe, that is index and bracket racing 101.

Now, I had to sit in the lanes for 20 minutes against dr. Joe a couple races back...., the DA dropped 500 ft........, I thought no way I could break out. If the air had stayed what it did when I left the trailer, I would have run a 9.51, but, the air dropped, and I broke out, even with my slow set up.......

So, for those of you that sandbag, I suggest you learn to cut the tree..........

And how bout my boy Tonto runnin several 8.teens in real street the other day at 175.......

my issue has been something in my set-up . won't make the 1st to 2nd shift and its better to put it up and save it for another day than break it.. but no not everybody else was hooking i saw several blow the tires off .. and i think everybody was complaining of spinning down track .. i had alot of time to watch and talk to people since i wasn't racing , but thats any track .. I've only been to 2 tracks in all of my outings that was perfect ,all the rest had problems specially on a TNT nite ..
but thats the pass here's the future KOTT

I ride my bike 40 miles each way to the track, every day to work, and have ridden from san diego to riverside and los angeles plenty of times. it'll run high 5's at 3500-4000ft all day every day on 87 octane. Tnt's bike is a street bike that he rides to work as well. It runs 5.7's on 87 and went 8.98 last weekend at drw. Smokin and quarter pounder run high 5's at swb. Dakota9498 runs high 5's at the same track as me on a street bike as well. There are normal people everywhere running good numbers on street bikes. Hell, every bike at our track from average size guys like me and dakota to big guys like master run at least a 6.0-6.1. Master and I average 8-10k miles a year.

i didn't say it was imposable but improbable ..when the last time you seen 5.90 thru 6.10 bikes win a 5.80 index .. but come on out CC and enter maybe you be the 1st . i put on around 20 k miles a year and run 6.0 - 6.1 also ..so i'll enter a 6.10 index not a 5.80 . i'll also lay a bet with you no streetbike wins this 5.80 index race ..

streetbike anything that does 10k miles a year has current insurance and tags . thats only around (800miles a month) i bet the bike that wins does 800 miles a year

example 06 gixxer would have atleast 40k miles to be running as a streetbike at this race in 2010
or
a 2000 busa would have 100,000 k miles to be a streetbike .. how many 100,000k busa's you seen at races

So to be a real street bike you have to ride 10K a year? Most bikes, even crusiers don't put 10K a year on there bikes. I play in to many ball tournaments on weekends to put that much mileage on my bike. Just because you can't run those times doesn't mean there aren't real street bikes that can, I "can" ride my bike anywhere and it has run 5.70's and has license, insurance, turn signals and inpection. If I ran a 5.80 index race and didn't win it wouldn't be because my bike couldn't run the numbers.

what makes a guy riding his cruiser once every 6 months to a rally a biker .. much less a streetbike .. you guys need to get out more .. i'll make the standing offer to you that i made to many a racer .. you want a race .. we go for a 250 mile streetride 2 tanks of gas and i'll run any race you come up with after the ride..

guys can try calling their bikes streetbike but the fact of the matter is ..streetbikes tally miles ..not sit in garages. we can do 6000 miles a year that 500 miles a month . how easy that is a 10 mile trip 1 way would only take 25 times in a month ..shit i can do that on a skateboard

This conversation was not about who is a biker or how many miles you put on the bike. If I had a brand new bike with stock exhaust it waouldn't be a "true street bike" according to you because I don't ride it enough? I play fastpitch softball on a team that plays a lot of tournaments, also play football every Sunday in a league during the fall. I still ride dirtbikes and have other bikes that I don't race so I won't put that many miles on any bike. Sounds like you need to "get out more" and enjoy other things in life.
