1 of 2 getting close Ive been working long hrs, doing side jobs on the wknds and sometimes i even get to work on our stuff lol. theres a bunch of things left, but between the 2 bikes we should have enough stuff to have dads ready for this wknd to test n tune at the track. IF the order from Schnitz arrives(due wednesday )
its starting to take shape anyway. switching from the slick n bar setup to 6 over this yr

lol ya 6 when its adjusted back all the way
its getting a new flat slick on the rear this week (shinko for a few shake down runs on the road) , and we got a skinny 90/580 from Ali for the front. it came with the sides pre lightened

should be 75in wb. hopefully it will go straight and not stand up. we put a revalved resprung shock on from Trac which should help a lot. its geared 2 down 10 up so will hit pretty hard on the 2 step
im glad he decided to ditch the training wheels too ____________

if i could figure out how to not sleep, i would have just enough time to get all my stuff done on time. under tail is made/on, air bottle bracket on, plastics just about finished, voodoo clutch mod, getting a new slick mounted tomm... should be ready for shake down runs after supper, track sat morning if all goes to plan. then we get to finish all the little things that are "good enough for the first wknd"

shake down runs on a worn out u soft turned out to be a spin fest, no suprise lol, but bike is ready to go. just swapped rims and got a few pics. theres a bunch of things left, but its enough to race with and get a feel for the new setup. I like how the exhaust turned out ( the old man loves the tip ) and will probably do something similar with mine.

had some fun today, the old man is starting to get the hang of it without bars
first pass spun(new tire) second pass it hooked, and this happened
we are kinda pissed off. we feel Catalyst should let customers know that this needs a support behind it. we never had any trouble with a step drag seat that replaces the seat only. we ran it like that for the day. i popped it back out and just finished putting 3 layers of fiberglass on the underside, the last one forming a small triangle brace
it was hot and muggy, local 14 that was running 154 last fall was running 149-150
dad was down 4mph. usually hitting 144
best run was a 9.38. had a 1.48 60ft
we made no changes to the clutch today, the voodoo aparently felt quite smooth static was a little high, kinda bogging at first, but no signs of front wheel lift. we upped the 2 step a little at a time untill he was having a hard time actually holding on. we dropped it a couple hundred rpm for a few runs till he got the hang of it a bit better. it was pulling him out of a tuck, and he had to let off to get back down on the tank. lots more seat time will be required. we were slowly chipping away the et with him getting used to it and making very small changes, so it was a good day. it was just starting to pick the front wheel about 2 in on the hit towards the end of the day, and was only using about half of the available squat room, so we softened up the rear spring a bit for the morning. ill try to get a couple vids tomm got a couple nice burnout pics today
really tempted to take my leathers and try a few runs tomm....

I tried a Catalyst +6" tail on the 14 and it did the same thing. I let them know, and they put the info on on the website.

Im 70 pounds lighter than the old man, with at least 200 more runs under my belt... im thinking 8.80 @150 within 5 passes.... but i dont want to screw myself up for driving mine in 2 weeks.....(hopefully 2 weeks). i may even run out of gear with his setup. 16 56 lol
he needs the seat time so im not having to try to set up 2 bikes when mine is ready. ill probly "crew chief" again tomm. i should have had the logger on at least rpm, tps and afr....
good news is hes going back on his diet because he wants to go faster. finally has a good reason lol

had to cut the day short due to an oil leak. oil pan had a couple drips.
first run was pretty smooth, but slow because i set the rear spring a little softer. we turned the 2 step up about 150 rpm for the second pass to compensate, but spun (a few drips on the tire)
havent touched the clutch yet.

i could easily pull some static to get rid of the bog, but upping the 2 step has the same effect. we are just doing one thing at a time while he gets used to it. its way easier to change a tiny little dial on the triple clamp than to pull the clutch cover/snowflake and play with shims. we will continue to raise the launch rpm as he feels comfortable with it untill it starts lifting the front wheel too far or we need to adjust the clutch. im trying to get it to launch nicely with a lot of static to be easier on the clutch. playing with suspension and driving style is getting us closer. we arent trying to smash any recoreds here ____________
