Shane,
I talked to Karl a little while ago. He is still driving home. I'm sure he will post up some info when he gets home. He did say it was pretty cold there and REALLY windy. However, I don't have any actual numbers.
He told me the same thing Doug posted. It was all about the wind. Karl said he ran his 195.0 (his top speed) into a pretty much staight headwind. The same wind that Tom (blue 14) ran 189.xxx.

For any non-racers,Very crucial information in Osti's last line. In LSR it really is dependent on the conditions, so "top speeds" take a back seat in significance to speeds obtained under the exact same conditions.
On paper, Karl did not have the fastest bike of the event, but in reality, Karl was approx 5mph faster than the 14.
I can't speculate on the conditions, but I'm going to guess they were not too good if Karl ran 10mph down on what he runs in calm ideal conditions in the mile.
Karl, good job... You never fail to step up and represent the 12R faithful!

good job Karl!
so how does the 189 mph 14 compare for mods and driver? 195 is a pretty good margin over that

Brenda & I left the track at 6pm, bike back in garage at 7pm Sun; only a 12hr drive from Houston to Mojave. (daylight hours)
Brenda is the best pit pal possible, she is everywhere, helping everybody, never gets tired behind the wheel. Thank you brenda!!!!
Really cool that we finally got to meet Tim Chin; he helped in pits most of the day; was called away to bail his rider out of jail (Tim runs in a rough crowd )
GREAT event; the organizers are 110% on top of their game.
Track is beautiful, shut down is so long you practically gotta motor to it.
2700' altitude & 60'? uphill gradient were offset somewhat by 50-55F but 200mph was unobtanium for everyone but a 1000hp NA camaro - Big Red. My nuts tingle when they fire that car up.
Tom Krause 195.2 on his blue ZX14 beat my 195.0 fair & square.
Great guy, great, funny wife.
Tom & I ran till they closed the lanes, we both left the track after 6pm.
Winds had the flags & wind socks snapping straight at times.
Mostly from side with a bit of head; Started from right side, to head, to a tail for a very short period, to left side, never really stopped at all
My 2nd pass took a hard, hard headwind right on the nose, got 192.2 on a pretty clean run
in order:
194.8 - smoked 1st & 2nd bad, thanks to Tim Chin for immediately checking tire pressure...
192.2 - never got out of 5th, hard head wind fidgety handling, Tim fixed it
193.5 - boot touching shift lever, bad shifts
194.4 - clean
195.0 - very clean
I am not at all disappointed in my bike, it is running great.
Congrats to to Tom for taking me out by 0.2mph, you were purely running the piss outa yr 14.
See you in 3 weeks at the Texas Mile!!
Sorry that Gary didn't make it Next time, eh?!!!!!

Good showing, Karl! Any pics or feedback on the track surface/shutdown area?
You are lucky to be in such a central location that you can reach any venue in a day or so (not counting the night driving, of course).

Yup, good central location, Texas!
The track surface condition is not as good as Miami's perfection, but not much different than Texas, REAL nice. There are apparently some bumps but my ole dead ass never felt them.
Shut down length is sooooooooooooooooo long, just rolling out of the throttle is enough at 195.
GREAT track.
Every track seems to have it's personality quirk; Mojave's is probably the wind & the slight uphill gradient.

Nice work.
That camaro is HORNYYYY! LOL
When I first heard of this event I expected to see the typical mojave desert lake dirt runs...
Thats much closer to us west Canadian folks than Texas, or Maxton.... hmmm.
The time of year is ideal too, cause after 4months of snow, there is some real incentive to trailer the bikes where we can ride.... its a much more reasonable distance for me, and I could even drag the family along for a little vacation in Arizona and Cali....
I might be able to sell this trip to the wife !
