well we put a 7500 btu window unit in a 960sqft r13 insulated shop and it did make it usable when real hot. it was free. i for my 40x24 shop with r19 walls and sealing got a 12,500 btu window unit for me at 50 bucks.
ent ,can you put someones newer window unit in it and just see what happens? it is real kool playing with the new stuff and haveing it but a simple bigger window unit at a yard sale will get you a cool shop and give more money for the engine builds. i am sure my 12,500 would make your shop usable. it may not cool it in 15 min though.
i wish our ac units had a txv valve that sizes with line temp. all are fixed orfices and bang around like mad when starting before the pressures equlize.

I have a big "window", thru the wall unit in my current garage, but Houston is not like Yankee States.
From time to time we get 100F at midnight... sometimes 95F 24/7 for several weeks.
Hell, it's 69F now, Jan 23 at 3am.
We have bigger Ac challenges in Houston than up North

On the btu calculator link in the earlier post you'll notice
the zone variant is .7 up north.... Karl lives on the
edge between 1.10 and 1.20....while
in say Arizona it would be 1.25

hey Todd,
BTW: We gonna see you and that greasy/sexy/fast-paced wife of yours at the Texas Mile in March?

Hi probability Deb and I won't be there Karl.... last year I made it to 9 events including the Texas March meet. It's up to the teams we're working for , but like last seasion we will have teammates at each LSR event held in 2010.
