Been doing them that way for years. The pictures in Cory's thread really make it nice for someone who has never done it though. Replace the fork seals while you are in there too.

I'm still baffled as to how the lawn mower fit into it all? It seemed to be a very intriguel part of the procedure, but not mentioned in any great detail.

I noticed that too. It's been so long since I've done a set I can't even remember what I used. It wasn't pipe wrenches. Also I had two people so we didn't use a spring compressor either. Still a pretty good how to thread.

Weren't they the original makers of the adjustable
pipe wrench.... That was the story I got from
one of the men I worked for 30 years ago
