Nice read. The pics and vids are very good.
Here is the Bikeland Kawasaki contingent:
Sal:

Karl:

Dean:

Roy:

I might have to dust off the 14, or put the 12 into service for the next one.

After looking at the above pics, a few thoughts come to mind:
1) Nice to see that burnouts are allowed.
2) Dale's bike has come a long way!
3) Kawasaki Green is a good color choice.
4) Roy's ram air....hmmm.....is that a 10R rear wheel I spy?
5) Again, the track looks fantastic.
Any more details on the track? How is shutdown? Was a full ambulance/safety crew present?

Mike (Phantom) did a hell of a job at the track getting everyone set up,including pics,
video, and setting up everything so it can be viewed and a nice write up as always.

Shane the track is PRISTINE !!!
super super wide and 2 miles long with 1 mile shut down and pit road is huge and
surface the exact same as the runway !
full ambulance/safety crew was present.
This track is the best by far that I have ran on, well after passing thru the lights I was very light on front brake only towards the end,
They also had a couple different food venders ther one was shortys barbecue.

I'm thinking about giving it a try. My main reservation about TX is the short shutdown (and 1500 mile drive). It's not so much an issue with my bikes, because they are relatively mild. But with Racheal's turbo the speeds are higher, and the bike is heavy.

Wanted to congratulate EVERYONE on a job well done. At the end of the day everyone got a chance to race while the rest of us are freezing nuts and quarelling on the interweb!
Without question I think Sal and the Ace camp did a phenomenal job. Seriously....211 mph into a headwind on a 1287cc bike naturally aspirated in one mile? That says VOLUMES and those who actually race these bikes know exactly what kind of accomplishment that is. I'm sure if all goes well Sal will be aiming for about 215 at Maxton....or about what I'm aiming for even though I've got HP on him AND about 100 lbs or so of a total weight advantage. The icing on the cake was that he got to walk away with the track record for that event...seriously when was the last time you ever heard of a Kawasaki....a friggin 12R doing it....on nuts?!!? Props.
No doubt Karl did a good job out there as well. I'm no stranger to driving long distances, sleepless nights and overall fatigue while competing at LSR venues (TX Mile, Bonneville). It takes guts to go out there and run regardless of the outcome. It takes a lot out of you. Karl has a monster motor packing plenty of punch. With 35 more HP on the table it all may seem like a one sided race...but Karl is a bigger guy and Sal is as competitive as they come. I don't care who you are, for the smaller motor put up such a fight is inspiring. Either way though, Karl made the pilgrimage, broke 200 on GPS and lived to tell the tale! I wanted to go down to the Miami Mile my damn self but no $$$....oh well next time.
Seems like Dean was hampered by transmission woes but ... wouldn't be a Kawasaki if it didn't happen at least once though, right?! Next time...
Wrongway, looks like you had fun out there. Definately unorthodox in terms of mods chosen to get the job done but he's doing it his way, I can respect that at the end of the day.
To the rest of the racers, congrats!
Mike, good job with the pics and updates...tell Dale I like the red ;-)
Hopefully I'll see everyone at Maxton/FL/Loring.

Nice write up Mike, I got a question, the run sheet from Miami has Sal on a Busa and a ZX14??
I see from the pics he road Dale's bike, but did he pilot that Stg II ZX14 too?
And was he riding one of the Busas as well?
Did the ZX14 StgII run well, look like it was there?
Looks like a good new event to try out, as long as they get the clocks fixed.

Thanks Rich!
The run logs are mixed up. Sal rode a stage 1 ZX14, Dale's 12R, a showroom stock gen2 busa.
The only 14 over 1352cc's was Wrongway's 1530. There's talk about a few new big project bikes in the ACE camp... One of them being a stage 2 ZX14. Expect fireworks, Ace is going to be pumping out some serious machinery in 2010!!!

Cool ! Can't wait to see the progress, I believe alot of the speed comes from Sal's butt
being on the bike, that man just seems to wringe out more mph
than than the owners ever do.
So the stg1 zx14 went how fast by the clocks/gps?

Rich,
I was riding Dales bike and my buddys 08 stock Busa all day
Lamar asked me to run his bike late in the day now I did not ride his bike since april last year 2009
I jumped on the Zx14 whellied a bit put it down just bumped limiter 1 & 2nd and went 191.55 on clocks and 196.5 GPS into winds 10 MPH coming from 2:00 position I told owner I will hit 199.0 On my next pass without touching anything just needed 2 passes total 1 to feel the bike out 2nd pass to ride it.
take away the head side wind as I told him this bike will run 202 MPH now give it some fuel because it was lean and wants fuel and it will run 204 MPH all day long foot shifting.
ZX14 is Coming in Saturday 1/9/10 for surgery

The owner Dale went 194 MPH at Maxton when the bike was slower
and Dale's wieght was 285's suited.
Now Dale only went 190 MPh this time (into the wind )but had not raced the bike since
2008 october at the Texas mile.
I do believe Dale will go or get very close to 200 MPH when he gets seat time on his bike.
The bike is VERY strong !!

No doubt that bike has big nuts! But see you go about 211, to Dale's 200-202
You make everything fly HP wise and then add a few more mph riding. Big props
I need to start saving pennies so I can get my heap up to speed.
