shorter shock stiffer spring
fighting off a flu prevented any partying tonight so I decided to spend a little quality time with my baby. I bought a revalved resprung shock recently and put it on the bike tonight. it is 1/4 in shorter than my stock shock, which resulted in lowering the rear of the bike 5/8 in (tire to tail clearance decreased using the same Muzzy lowering links). this is with the bike about 12 over. ground clearance is improved by the 1/4 in. the oem spring was compressed to about 6 3/8 in and the Hyperpro 644 spring is compressed to about 6 1/2 in to give about the same feel. it will need to be tweaked at the track so it is close enough for now.

(yeah i know i need new header wrap)

probably at stock ride height Shane. I have 3/8-1/2 in to go before my 6-12 over arm is maxed. my WB C2C of axles is 66 3/4 in
contemplating an 8-14 over Thompson arm for next season....

and you will only make it shorter if you carry out the SW and cut pan plan. I lowered the front about an in mid season and lost about that much WB.

Yeah, I'm looking at some arms now. I could go with another Spencer's arm...that would likely be good for about 68" after all is said and done.

I think we are going with a fixed length 18 over arm for dads bike. stock extended, underbraced. Thompson is the only company I can find that will go that long for a good price. lifetime warranty too, so Im not worried about it breaking. He would prefer to get an adjustable that long so he can shorten it up for one race and run a street tire, but the moly arms are a bit too pricey.
18 over with a slick, no bars, 1 in shorter shock, revalved, heavy duty spring. thats his build plan. with a dry shot he should be running with most of the local slick n bar bikes easy enough

18 over should be a challenge, traction-wise!

I think a 7in MT flat slick will do fine at around 74 in WB with a good working shock. look at Pats bike on that skinny road race tire. 5in WB difference, big tire difference
