- Resurrecting The 12R -
As some of you know, my 12R has been in mothballs for quite some. Well, the motor has been complete for quite some time, and soon it will be installed. I did some work on the bike today to get it ready for that. The bike has pretty much sat unattended in my garage for the last two years.
Here are some pics:

I went through the basics: fresh fuel, battery, new tires/ metal valve stems, clean up, reinstall brakes, new chain and sprockets on order, etc..I also have new braided brake lines and new pads to install as time permits.
It's nice to see it coming together, even if it doesn't yet have a motor. I should have some updates within the next couple of weeks or so; I'm really looking forward to riding this bike again.

Shit, your garage looks about like mine, down to the stacks of take-offs, the Innovate Motorsports box and the GSX-R1000K5 wheel without a rear brake rotor! Is that a silver GSX-R1000K3 is see next to the car seat? I have one of those, too!

I need to get something. I'm thinking air operated, since I have a decent compressor. Maybe in the Spring? When I say we are out of money, I really mean it this time! Paper, plastic, you name it...we're out!

Good luck with it.
I wish I could get my bike in my front pit bull stand like that. I do not trust it. Plus, I cannot get it up on the stand without help from another person, since my bike is so low. I guess it has something to do with the fork angle.
I want to sell it, but its brand new, I may modify the thing to work better.........
Nice bike.

It is stock wheelbase. I'm not sure what I am going to do with it, to be honest.

The pitbull front end stand and the Harborfreight lift don'w mix. Had my 12 on the front pitbull stand and was letting it down, wheel turned bike fell over right onto the lift. Scratched up the bike, busted the windshield. Found out later that they suggest you always have the rear on a stand before using the front stand so the bike dosn't twist and fall.
I agree with you red rocket, big engine and short wheelbase will be fun and a challenge. If you watch the supersport bikes at Prostar you see haw far they have to slip the clutch to run a good time and keep the front end down.

I love my 14, but the 12 is 1 of the best looking sportbikes out there. Why did they have to have such a pos clutch? That was my only prob with my old 1.

It's never a good idea to use just a front stand without a rear stand.

I have an update:
The Ace Performance 1287cc motor is in the bike!
I'm actually still on the road, headed home. But I have a few pics to post up:

I took the bike for one quick pull (without the lower fairings) to about 180 mph actual, and let me tell you...this motor delivers. I don't want to sound too giddy...but I'm telling you, it absolutely rips! My 14 is pretty quick and very light, but this bike will rip it a new one when it comes on the power.
I will have a lot more to post later, but suffice it to say that I am thrilled with the way the bike runs. I'd also like to thank Sal and everyone for the help and hospitality this weekend; it was greatly appreciated.
Tomorrow I still have 900 miles of driving to do...so that I can arrive home and enjoy the 5 inches of snow on the gound.

Thanks Karl! It does run great, thats for sure. It's nice to have the bike back together somewhat, and I'm anxious to see how she runs on the street and and perhaps the track next season. I'm not looking to mix it up with the 12R "top guns", so to speak...but it should be fun to ride.

Thanks for offering to take it easy on the old fat guy.
I think Racheal's bike will run very good next year; we are doing a little more than an shifter this winter (no motor mods, though).
I have to wait and see how the money goes on the 12R...of course I would like to be able to do a few little things to it and take it to the track.
