Balancer What do you gain by removing the balancer from the crank?

That much, wish i would have thought about that when my motor was apart. I wounder if I could remover the crank by just dropping the oil pan.

Not to doubt you, kcadby.
But i don't think it will come out.
I tried it. It was so close, but didn't happen.
Maybe you know more tricks than i do,
but i gave up after giving it the old college try.
It's not an issue since you must balance the crank.
Kawi saved me from myself!

Ah...Sorry...
I thought it might come out without splitting the cases
I haven't tried to do it without splitting the cases...just thoought it might be possible...
You don't HAVE TO re-balance the crank...it's just better if you can...
The 1361 I built...runs...VERY SMOOTH...the way I balanced EVERYTHING...

Pshew...had me worried. I know mine likes to shake the nuts and bolts loose, though. Oh, well. As long as it runs good......

No way you could have know unless you actually tried it.

I had my balancer taken off and did NOT rebalance the crank. I was told that the balancer had nothing to do with the crank's balance, rather it was for overall motor balance ???? I really haven't noticed any increase in vibration. ____________

hey gerard, good morning! You are prolly right. You could put the amount I know about the bike's internals on the head of a pin next to all those dancing angels and still have room left over! ____________

The balancer is addressing "harmonic's". If our cranks were OUT of balance stock, then the balancer would/could not correct the problem. To get 10,000 rpms your CRANK needs to be balanced.......This balancing issue in this motor is exaggerated by some here.

I have heard from some pretty good sources that by removing the balancer the motor will rev faster but actual HP is not effected, Maybe Doug Meyer could comment on this.

allo guys did you simply take the balancer out, or replace it with the muzzy http://www.muzzys.com/ZX12counter_balancer/index.html

you can't just take it all out. Take the gear off theshaft and either buy a Muzzy piece or simply have someone put a bit of weld in the oil hole on the existing shaft. Gotta plug that hole somehow. No biggie.
