logging pressure. what transducer?

Im convinced that logging oil pressure is going to be the thing to do drag racing a stroker motor next yr. (strongly suggested by Karl).

I think a 0-100 psi, 0-5 volt linear transducer would be what Im after. My LMA-3 can power a 5v sensor if need be. Ill be running the stock oil pump, but not shimming the relief valve(unless it reads way low).

doing some searching on the Innovate forum and google turned up a wide selection of suggestions, with a wide range of prices.

what do you guys suggest?

thx

Here are some choices:
http://www.egauges.com/vdo_sgrp.asp?Subgroup=Pressure_Sender
The cheap senders are bulky, but I was able to mount one for my pressure gauge in place of the factory oil light switch.

I tapped into the signal wire to my oil pressure gauge and log that voltage. I really like having a pressure gauge on the bikes dash so I can watch for the pressure drop during warmup.

The best senders are three wire like the one Karl recommended above. But for this application, you don't need a lot of accuracy . A single wire, resistance to ground sender works fine. Thats what my gauge uses.

X10!

It's another health check,
pressure drops to about 20psi on heatsoaked motor (full syn oil)

I use the same one Karl uses. Like Karl says use a flexible mount.

Gauges are worthless while racing. Use a big red idiot light with a 40 psi or so threshold. The data will tell you what's going on, but only the light MIGHT save your engine.

I am a firm believer in the "Change Engine" red light(s).
