- R&D Pro-Cut Trans? -
I think a couple of you may have the "pro cut" trans. I was told that is not a great option for a street-ridden bike as the downshifts are not the best. Can someone elaborate on what they have experienced in that regard?
Thanks!

I have my 12 done and don`t notice a damn thing.....
I have the full race package from R&D and ride it on the street on a regular basis......
The only thing I notice is it shifts better, both ways......
Maybe someone else has a feel from it but I`ve been riding for 20 plus years and have a pretty good seat of the pants feel for my bikes ride/feel....

I have 12k miles on my bike now, and I havn't use the clutch for any of my wot upshifts for the great majority of that. I don't think it's bad on the tranny, but I want to know what to get if the tranny ever goes the way of the do do.

I figured I would ask, since Mark told me it wasn't ideal for the street...he said it was fine to cruise to bike night and such.
I know that NOX has a pro cut trans...but I don't think he does much downshifting.

I have to down shift to get back to the trailer, thank you.
Not sure what it would be like in the twisties, but I do not think you have that issue either.
When downshifting is spoken of, it is meant as aggressive downshifting. Not what you are doing with yours I am sure.

Yeah, you won't find me out scratching on the back roads, that's for sure. The bike is still pretty nimble, due to the light weight and BST's, but too low.

Shane,
Have you noticed any high speed stability problems with the BSTs? I was wondering if the loss of gyroscopic mass had any effect.

The bike is stable, but you will likely notice a huge difference in sensitivity to steering input. Take some time to get used to it; it will move around more at high speeds than you might think. The key is to be relaxed and smooth with your controls.

Shane,
Don`t think ya gonna have any prob.`s....Mine is Pro cut too.....I think like NOX say`s, you might notice something if you were to go canyon carving and blipping the throttle for downshifting because there is a bigger gap in between the dogs.....But Mark does some very excellant work....I`ve been useing him for 20 years to do ALL my dragbike auto tran.s, back cut, pro cut and repair`s....I think your 14 tran`s will be cheaper to do than the 12 was.....He didn`t have much good to say about the 12`s tran.s.....

Yeah, I think he told me it is quite a bit cheaper. I have a 14 trans here, and it is huge compared to the 12 trans.

Yeah man, and the EX-500 trans is even lighter still. Best places to cut weight at the expense of strength...the trans and crank.
Anyway, back on topic...the R & D Pro-Cut trans...

dads had trouble down shifting a couple times, but that may have been the shift ram not setup right. mine has maybe not clicked down once or twice in the 2 seasons ive been running it, but that could be the loose nut on the handle bars. usually works fine, and a dream to upshift when im foot shifting on the road

While it is there, have the works done.
The only thing I did not have done, was a full auto.
Got one on the shelf in the garage I may have built for that too, but, if I do it, I want a full 1-6 auto, and then you have to get pushed back, or at least drive in top gear.......
