I would just let Millennium do their thing, but it would be interesting to know what sort of RA finish they end up with

If you go to the Brush Research site (http://www.brushresearch.com/literature.php?type=2), there are five documents that deal with that question in graphic detail. Everything there is worth reading.

+1 Very good reading from Brush Research.
Millennium takes the cylinders to final dimension by honing. They may use a grit slightly coarser than ideal to keep the finishing time (cost) low. They appear to be a very nice finish when they are done, next time I get a block done by them I will measure the finish.
I recently did a quick deglaze on my cylinders with a 240 grit Brush Research flex hone. This thread got me thinking about surface finish, so I took the block to work on Fri to get some measurements.
After hand honing:
Bottom of cylinder

Top of cylinder

I also measured the head gasket sealing surface. Cometic recommends a finish of 50 or better for the MLS gasket I use.

The block was surface ground .005 by Millennium, then finished by hand with 600 grit and a quick once over with 800 grit. The head was machined .005 by Andy at Metric cycles, so I started with 400 grit and went to 800. Took A lot of time doing figure-8s with a 2-4-6 block, but gave a very nice finish.
