if it were me, i would just get rid of the rad, and keep the hoses ect full of water and flowing in a circle. im not sure how a water cooled head would work dry???

I'm not sure what he did. I suspect nothing to the head. All hoses etc removed from the motor.

Brickman,

I run my '02 ZX12 dry !! Removed everything...took out the thermostat housing and return fitting etc. on the back of the block. I ran it with the waterpump assy for a while and then machined the top of the base housing of the thermostat off so it is nothing more than a cover for the oil pump. Leave the temp sensor for the ECU screwed into the block.
I think it cools off better between rounds setup like this than having a small amout of water in it !!
Lost around 19 pounds by removing the cooling system. There are 2 other ZX12 riders here at Palm Beach International that also run dry and none of us have had any negative effects...and it gets HOT here in the summer !!

Later, Roy
