started running the slider

and its a lazy dog out of the hole! four washers on the arms and standard stall springs at .800". first time ever using it on the bike so i figured i would start at the soft end of the spectrum. starts engaging at 3500 rpm. ran a 1.80 60' with a 10.199 ET. i want to get the bike to start taking off closer to 6000prm. i'm wondering if i can acheive this running the standard springs. do you guys think i can also run less weight on the arms to get my engagement rpms up? (seems to me like it has more weight than it needs) sliders are a totally new world to me and i have a total of one pass down the strip with one so i've still got plenty to learn

Nox, If I remember correctly from a previous post....I'm pretty sure he has a MTC slider.

Les, you need to give us your chassis set up !! Your not on a 2-step....just twisting it, right ?? Start by bringing the blue nuts down...I think you can go as low as .650"... I'll check my notes when I get home. You need to be careful not to get them into a coil bind. and yes losing weight on the arms will also raise the stall speed...but I wouldn't run less than 3 washers. You'll need the medium springs to get 6000 rpm stall speed. Do yourself a favor and make only ONE change at a time....... Later, Roy

stock wheelbase, cut tank, air shifter, bottom hole on the rear links, lowered .5" in the front also running a strap and 20lbs of ballast. -2 in the front sprocket. 120/60 front tire. right now its just twist to go. when i get it setup i'll start running the two step. i'll try going with three washers first. the motor isn't a powerhouse so im not too worried about dropping weights. thanks for the help guys. i'm the only guy running a slider in a street bike down at the track so good advice is hard to find.
