Ok dude, I give. What is it? I see what looks like an O2 sensor. Is that a closed loop thingy?

does that have data logging? If not how are you going to analyze rpm vs O2 readings vs throttle position?

Yea..it does...but Id need to find a way to hook a laptop to it while riding.

Im only concerned with WOT a/f ratio on spray.

Ok YCIS, what makes wideband different than uh, non-wideband?

I *DO* actually have an O2 sensor on my HMF pipe, and it certainly helped with true, roadspeed A/F readings, but I didn't think the sensor would read correctly with Nitrous?

I do think I remember reading about a Bosch sensor in a Hot Rod magazine a year or two ago, that was like, I thought, 5 band or something. Somehow it was better than other O2 sensors before it when used with software for tweaking. Is your's somewhat like that?

(Now I'm gonna have to go dig up that damn old article!)

There are two types of sensors...Wideband and Narrowband. Narrowband 02 sensors are very innacurate as all they can tell you is that the a/f ratio is either above stoich or below it...it has no accuracy outside that range...meaning any reading thats not stoich is useless.

Wideband 02 sensors have the capability to maintain an exact temperature (through a controller) and therefore can accurately measure A/f ratios well beyond just stoich range and accurately allow you to tune the bike.

Wideband 02 sensors are significantly more expensive and are whats found in nearly all Dyno "sniffers".

In closed loop systems (like cars) the reading from the narrowband 02 sensors is either above or below stoich and the cars computer attempts to compensate for that over and over...back and forth...it has no accuracy other than knowing its either above stoich (lean) or below it (rich) but has no way to determine HOW MUCH it is above or below. As you can see...for my target A/F range of 11.5:1 (on spray) I would have no way to accurately measure that with a narrowband 02 sensor.

YCIS, That lookls like a lot of work to me!! My bike also has 2 greens! Same place! I matched the paint and then got a case of stupid an 1500 wet sanded to get better finish and the better surface made it look lighter! The left side of my bike has my repainted panel!

haha...kiss my ass al

It really isnt much work at all. Only two wires need to be connected (power/ground) for the entire setup. Most difficutl part was getting the bung welded into the midpipe.
