Pat, I know you were just as excited about the Power Race. I also seem to recall you ran your best 60' on a Michelin at one point, but equal or better ET on a Shinko?
What has been your impression of "change" from a rider's standpoint, with the Power One? Yeah, it looks different...but I'm curious as to how it has improved your setup.

You are correct Shane. I have had great success with all tires, all being the 180-55.
Still to this day, my bikes quickest pass was with a 150 lb rider and a 180-55 Shinko U-soft, 8.69@154. This was when U4 fuel was the shit, and the air and track was perfect.
My personal quickest was using MR9 and the Power Race, back in Jaunary 2009. Ran 8.74. I installed my first Power One at the AMA race in Atlanta back in April. I won Street ET and Pro ET that weekend. I just took this tire off Tuesday and replaced with another one.
The Shinko and the Power Race both yielded 1.33 60' times in good weather and track conditions.
My findings with all 3 tires on a 69" wheelbase ZX-14 are...
Shinko U-soft...great tire for the price, hooks great on well-prepped tracks, but had tendency to spin on marginal track conditions and colder track temperatures.
Michelin Power Race...Awesome tire. Higher priced than the Shinko. More of a rounder profile than the Shinko, but hooks better. Doesn't need the amount of contact patch as the Shinko does to hook up. Lasts just as long as a Shinko. Michelin discontinued this tire, but you can still find some on ebay for cheap.
MIchelin Power One...Hooks like glue. Comparable to M/T shootout tire, but lasts way longer. Pricey, but knowing you will hook is priceless. IMO flatter profile than the Power Race, but still a DOT road race tire. Tread pattern resembles cross between Shinko and M/T. Hooks up on tracks that the Shinko doesn't. Being used on low 7 second 200+ MPH Pro Street bikes in place of the M/T Shootout tire. Lighter than the Shinko.
Since I've only used this tire in the heat, I cannot tell how it will react to a cooler track. I will be running this tire with MR9 this winter to see if I can drop my ET lower than 8.74. I am convinced that it will perform flawlessly, and I will drop my ET's even more.
My biggest impression with the Power One is just knowing it will hook, and how long it lasts. Yea it costs more price wise....but losing traction by using a lesser quality tire will cost you more in the end if it means losing a race.
I have 2 brand new (zero passes) 180-55 Power Race's that I will probably sell at an awesome price if anyone is interested. I'm hooked on the Power One!!

Thanks for the feedback, Pat. I also have a 180/55 Power Race sitting here. I really like the shorter tire (190/50) though, since it gives about 1/2" more clearance from rubbing. It is also equal to about 1/2 a tooth difference in gear.
But with $$ being what they are, I might end up putting the 180 on. I had good luck with the same tire last year, with 40 degree track temps. The Power One is the one I would like to try though; are you getting your scuffs from Richies?

I am using the 180-55 Power One. Pressure anywhere from 12 psi on a marginal track, and as much as 20 psi on a well-prepped track.
The Pro Street guys are running the 190-50 Power One. I will try the 190 one day when 180 wears down, likely not until next year since they last so long.
