Another one bites the Dust...

Before going to MIR for the Jason Miller StreetBike Seminar for 9-4-09 I wanted to check the clutch on ol' Betsy!!!

Wednesday 9-2-09 I opened the clutch and found 1 large 2inch crack and 5, 1/2inch cracks on the Falicon Billet Basket Yes, there was a broken fiber only the #6 was broken...

Luckily I have a spare Falicon Billet Basket but the gear from a 2000 12...Like I said in a previous post, you can use a 2000-01 gear in a 2002-05 12 & you will not notice a difference also trouble free...

By the way this is my second Falicon Billet Basket to end up with stress cracks...The first one had 2 large cracks and in a shorter amount of passes, which was used in a stock wheelbase 12, compared to the current Billet Basket used on the same 12 but @ 61inches now...

The 12 sure is abusive on clutch parts, but moreso on a short 12...

Soo, now Im going to send the cracked basket out to get removed & have a new Billet Basket installed...Some guys say Falicon is not as good as other companies?...Anyone have any recommendations as to which Billet Basket I should go with this time and WHY ???

Question!!!.....Anyone have experience with the usage life of a basket clutch gear???

I would expect the gear itself to have an indefinite lifespan per se vs the basket is whoat is loaded.
PS- are you using a PC yet with the Akra?

If you are concerned about the gear, I suppose you could have it magnafluxed? That might be a pretty good idea, actually.

That Akra seems like an excellent pipe for the dragraces. I've heard from a few guys they did not bother with a PC as well.

If you keep a stock pan, then yes..........

If you truly want to set up the chassis............, NO.

Why waste the money on a good tank like you have, and not do a full set up, with a cut pan and sidewinder........, and get the most out of it you can?

I know I will hear from someone on this statement, but for what I know, Muzzy used several Sources for their Billet baskets and "ONE" of them was Falicon !!

Now I need to look at my basket (The bike is apart so no problem here!

I had a falicon basket in my bike the 1st time. It began rattling the springs badly. I sent it in and they said the spring pockets were worn out WTF. Anyway I have a Muzzy basket in my bike now, no problems so far..
