aftermarket oil pressure sensor is fragile???

hmmmmmmmm....

My 6mo old aftermarket oil pressure sensor quit at Loring; thought it was wiring.

nope, good pwr & gnd but no output, so it looks like it's junk.

It is mounted on a T off the L side of the oil galley, OEM sensor on the other side.

Anyone have experience with "fragile" pressure sensors, or did i just have bad luck????

Karl, with the tee in there it may have created a harmonic problem. If the assembly on the of that setup has a resonant frequency that is at the engines resonant frequency at a particular rpm. If so then it may vibrate the sensor to death when the engine is at that frequency.

If you have a reed tachometer you can place it on the sensor on the dyno and see if it goes ballistic at any point in the run.

My guess is that you need to modify the way the fittings are to change the resonant frequency of the assembly. Maybe go to larger size fittings or solidly brace the setup you have. Typically you want to keep stuff like that short and fat.

Is there a place in your data logs where you got spikes or erroneous data? That would be the resonant frequency of the assembly.

Oh, its a good idea to keep the damper on the fuel rail short and out of the same type scenario.

At Loring I meant to mention something about that but so much was going on.

nope, the oil pressure log looked fine, then just quit.

There is not really a good alternative to where I have mounted the damper.
If i hang it directly on the end of the rail it is in direct contact with my knee.

Your knee ought to keep it well-damped.
