Very informative post, after reading this I was asking a mechanic friend about a local ZX12 he did some work on. "Guy sold it so he gave up the info now". It was a 1394 or 1427 with Carpenter head and cams. Bike was about 62 or 63" long and ran 8.60's on motor. He said they got the most power running 9 degrees advance on that engine. I didn't think anyone was running that much advance until I read this post.

awesome.. shitload of stellar technodrivl here.
very good shit.

i run +4 on my zx7r, but my rotor is addjustable from -7 to +7 as well. and i can get a sneaky combo action deal going if i wanted to experiment and dial in gobs of advance of retard.

i have a buddy with another 7R and he's running leaded fuel and +7 and he said it runs like a raped ape.

can't tell yet on mine because the clutch is slipping very badly. (the difference from stock to now, having +4* adv. and drilled slides)

I have a question, I'm confused about why the AFR changes in relation to the timing? If your Air Fuel mixture is all sealed in the piston why does altering the point at which you ignite it change the ratio ?

Its much like raising the compression. More of the burn happens in the chamber/cylinder so EGT's go down and less unburned fuel exits past the exhaust valve.
