filling your own nitrous bottles
do any of you have expirience filling your own bottles from a larger one? (no fill station) my nitrous guy was telling my i should get a 10 or 15 pounder and just use that to top up my 2 pounder. i guess i put the little one on ice, and "pour" in the nitrous from the bigger tank. as long as theres no siphon tube of course. i have access to a 10 pounder....
thx

I've had great luck just topping off the 2.5lb bottle.
You should have 2 smaller botlles one for the bike other in cooler.
And a good scale and a safe way to warm the mother bottle to add pressure,
try not to work with it over 1200-1300psi. Iv'e been able to get 2.8lbs in the bottle this way.

Just as he said.
You can top off the bottle if it has some already in it by first knowing what the total weight is full. Scratch that number into the bottom of the bottle so you will know how much to fill it to. I do mine like this all the time.

They have fishing "hanging" scalaes, I use those for my smaller bottles. Not AS precise on the 10LB bottle but works for what I need to do.

The Guys that do not cool the small bottles are losing at least 1/2 pound of NOS! I put the small bottles right after a run when they are already cold into Ice Water. I have a Warm up Jacket that I wrap around the 10 pound Bottle that Hooks to the 12 Volt Battery. I get about 2.5 pounds in the 2 pound Bottle and 3 pounds into the 2.5 pound Bottle and it happens Quickly!
Here is what I use and cost about $20.00 also good for your Luggage

Here is the Heater Wrap for under $50.00

Put a couple of Clips to attach to the battery of your van or truck and a Long 5 foot Hose

Like everyone says cool the small bottle either in ice or in the freezer and depending on temp outside you can just leave the big bottle in the sun, becarefull not to heat the big bottle up too much, a guage on it would be good also to see the pressure, or you can even just heat it up with a heat gun. You can overfill the small bottle very easy and it will tend to pop the pop of valve it left in the sun.
