nitrous jetting and AFR

tested my fogger setup tonight. low pressure non adjustable NOS pump with the rest of the system looking very similar to a stealth kit. the bike was running on 91 octane instead of the usual 87. i run 5.5 degrees advanded timing(even on 87). on motor it was running lean compared to the track, so i richened it up 3 percent( made it around 12.3:1 a little too rich just to be safe) and gave it a spray. the nos pump is connected to a small fuel cell in the tail which was full of VP C16. i have the progressive controller set at 50 start and 2.5 sec build time. for the track it will be activated in second gear, and only from 8000rpm to 11500, and if the micro switch is tripped (WFO). i have my efir-12 set to pull 6 degrees over 2.5 seconds. i didnt go WFO till 3rd gear, it ate up the rest of the gears like crazy, and drove thru the clutch(had my NA amount of weight on it as a test) ill have the same amount of weight on it as last yr for the next test. i didnt really hold it, and the logger showed me at around 156mph. i have no idea how accurate it is as i havent been able to test it compared to the track. i have shown 160 on it with out topping the bike out NA. anyway, jetting was setup 28 F 24 N and it dropped from about 12.3: 1 AFR to 10.1:1. Im wondering what size to try next as i want to be around 11.5:1 (on motor it will be around 12.8:1) should i try 28 F 26N ? or is a 2 jet jump a really big change?
I didnt even bother to pull the plugs due to the rich log file, i will if i have a leaner run next time

So, you hit it with the giggle gas, with the clutch set up for motor only right?

How was it coming out of the hole for you, did what we talked about work for you?

You know what adjustment to make for the big end........

Call me if you need anything.......

Oh, dang, just realized you were not at the track.........

other than air fuel......, you learned nothing......., you were probably spinning like a big dog......, unless the rpm log was smooth, then it was driving the clutch.......

I ran a two pill # difference on my Muzzy Stealth (70shot), with good A/F. Curious what your bottle pressure was?

around 950 I believe Gary, but i need a new gauge (2 should be in this week)

well Nox you said i may need to add a washer to each arm, so i learned that i definately do, its not a maybe, its a sure thing. im not sure how much more hp the amount of weight i had on would hold, it might have been fine for another 30hp with my NA setup, but not 80.

im going to strap the front end down another inch before i take it to the track this wknd, lower the 2 step a hair, soften the rear spring.... am i missing anything?

I think thats about it........

You gotta be WOT for that two step to be consistent......., or just do away with it.........

And like I said, WOT on the starting line......., but if your smack is on a timer..., then you may have to activate it when the two step shuts off, like the outlaw bikes do........

im WOT on the 2 step every time, i just had to back out of it a few feet out or well... i was aimed a the sky LOL
nitrous is activated by an rpm window switch and micro switch. i have to be full throttle, have to be above 8000 rpm and below 11500, and i have it connected to the gear pos sensor so it only sprays in second and higher. no timer, just the progressive box, which is set to 50% start, 2.5 sec build time.
im thinking lower rpm launch(requires less static), more weight, big spray

Keep a damn phone with you at the track, and freakin call me........,

Let me know ahead when you are going, so I can look for the calls........

I keep the stereo up in the garage when I am working.

going friday night if all goes to plan. it was just too much power at 5500, it either slipped the clutch too much, or wheelied. a calmer setup should be easier to run. its pulling on the top end, if i can get out of the 1.6 short times and back to where i was, or better(1.45 is not unreasonable) it should run the number.
9.3 with a 1.6... get that to 1.45 it should be 9.0s

I expect 8.99 if you get the 60' and particularly the 330' down.

we finished our projects at work too fast i guess. i have most of the day off, 2 new renos starting tomorrow, so im in the shop
took 25 thou of shim off the clutch, set it back up with 100 thou of clearance and lowered the 2 step to 4500. i made a new set of lowering straps too. i had 2 short pieces connecting the lower triple to the usual location on the caliper. nothing loops over the frame and interfers with steering this way. the new set are made with chain links(slight bit of extra ballast). fairing is 2.25 in off the ground now sitting as is

remeasured WB, it shrunk from just under 68 to about 66.75. (damn, i need a longer arm again lol) i made the rear spring(shock) a bit softer, i think im ready to go... i should really cut my kick stand off more, ill have to be careful if i dont, it doesnt lean very far anymore.

i may have enough in the bottle for another test tonight. the log file will tell the tale, i dont have a set of scales). i have the same amount of weight on the arms as i did last yr now, so hopefully it holds on the top end. i have more shim on than last yr because of the 2 step.

my gauge was stuck at 300 psi, so i held off, supposed to pick up 2 new ones tomm...
test runs on motor were pretty rough unless i was on smooth pavement. being strapped down so far makes the front very very stiff
